It's Tricky sets her sights on Alabama For IT'S TRICKY (Mineshaft), who lives up to her name on a daily basis, even getting the filly over to the track for her valiant victory in Saturday's Coaching Club American Oaks (G1) was, well, tricky. "We had a pony lead her from Greentree to the assembly barn, and then the pony that goes with her in the race came and met her there to get her over to the paddock," said trainer Kiaran McLaughlin, who admitted Saturday that they'd had trouble even catching her to put the halter on Saturday morning. "And then you saw her drop Eddie Castro! She's extra work, but she's worth it -- whoever named her, named her very well." McLaughlin reported Sunday that the Godolphin filly came out of her hard-fought victory in the race in good order, and would point next for the 1 1/4-mile Alabama S. (G1) on August 20. "She ate up well, not everything, but ate up well," McLaughlin said. "She was tired, but she's in good shape. It was a great win. "I spoke to Simon Crisford from Godolphin this morning and he said point for the Alabama -- good timing, as long as you're happy and she's happy. She's a day-by-day, hour-by-hour, minute-by-minute filly when it comes to how she's doing and what's going on. "We watched the replay a few times after the race," the trainer added. "It was a great ride -- because Eddie was busy from the quarter-pole, he was riding hard -- switched sticks late and finished strong. And then we replayed it a few times at dinner last night at Sperry's, but not on TV. I had to sleep fast last night. I didn't get home until 10 o'clock, that's not like me!" Peachtree Stable's PLUM PRETTY (Medaglia d'Oro) remains at Saratoga Race Course and came out of her second-place finish in the Coaching Club American Oaks in good shape, Tonja Terranova, assistant to Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert, reported Sunday morning. "She looks great," Terranova said. "Everything is fine with her. She ran really hard, and came out of it great." Terranova said she doesn't know whether Baffert will keep the Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner at Saratoga and point her toward a possible start in the Alabama, but did say the trainer plans to have a strong presence later in the Saratoga meet. "I haven't talked to Bob yet this morning, so I'm not sure what they've decided yet," Terranova said. "(Plum Pretty) is here at the moment. There's a plane coming on August 4, and I know he's planning on sending quite a few more. It's a little ways off, but he's planning on filling up his stalls here." Trainer Todd Pletcher said that BUSTER'S READY (More Than Ready) came out of her fourth-place finish in the Coaching Club American Oaks in good shape, and that plans for her next start were still undetermined.
