Shared Property stays perfect with Arlington-Washington Futurity score

Bettors were more or less on top of things when deciphering a 13-horse field in Saturday's $100,000 Arlington-Washington Futurity (G3) as two of the top three betting choices battled to the wire in the one-mile Polytrack test. Prevailing out in the middle of track was Jerry Namy's SHARED PROPERTY (Scat Daddy), who wore down the inside-traveling favorite Take Charge Indy (A.P. Indy) by a length in a time of 1:37 4/5. The 3-1 third choice under Leandro Goncalves, Shared Property paid $8.20, $4 and $3.

"I had a lot of confidence in this horse," Goncalves said. "He's been training great. (Trainer) Tom (Amoss) brought him into the race in very good form. He showed me he's the kind of horse who will do whatever you want to (in order to) win and that's the kind of horse you need to win races like this."

Tracking between rivals while racing in mid-pack to the quarter pole, Goncalves was forced to swing Shared Property outside a wall of horses for a clear path at the top of the stretch. The juvenile responded strongly to Goncalves' urgings thereafter as he wore down Take Charge Indy, who had grabbed a short lead a furlong out after advancing from eighth down the backside. The 2-1 favorite had a 2 1/2-length advantage over 13-1 chance Motor City (Street Sense), who outnodded No Spin (Johannesburg) by a head for third.

The remainder of the field finished far behind fourth-placer No Spin. Crossing the wire next were Hogy (Offlee Wild) and pacesetter Ville (City Place), who ripped off fractions in :22 4/5, :46 1/5 and 1:11 2/5. Following that one were Saturday Launch (Any Given Saturday), 5-2 second choice Twelve Hundred (Cape Town), Fairy Cat (Tale of the Cat), Heiko (Mr. Greeley), Danger Storm (Forest Danger), Priceless Shore (Shore Breeze) and Squid (Perfect Soul [Ire]). The maiden Ormond Quay (English Channel) was scratched.

Shared Property is now two-for-two with earnings of $70,800. He was favored at 7-5 in his debut at Ellis Park on July 30, and drew off to win by four lengths over Motor City while completing six furlongs on dirt in 1:11 1/5.

Bred in Kentucky by Mr. and Mrs. John Williams, Shared Property was a $90,000 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic two-year-old in training purchase this past May. The gelding was produced by the multiple stakes-winning Yoursmineours (Belong to Me), who has also produced a yearling colt by Forestry and a weanling filly by Tiz Wonderful.

This is the family of 1987 juvenile filly champion Epitome (Summing), whose offspring include U.A.E. highweight Faltaat (Mr. Prospector) and the multiple Grade 2 winner Essence of Dubai (Pulpit). Further back, this female line was responsible for multiple French champion Green Forest (Shecky Greene) and Group 3 winner and classic-placed Green Paradise (Vigors).
