Keeneland November kicks off 13-day stand on Election Day
Keeneland's globally important November Breeding Stock Sale begins Tuesday,
featuring among the 4,762 horses cataloged a number of Grade 1 stakes-winning
and stakes-producing fillies and mares, weanling siblings to champions and
graded stakes winners, prominent horses of racing age and notable dispersals
during its 13-day run through November 20.

at Keeneland.com.
A number of horses with connections to this year's Breeders' Cup on Friday and
Saturday at Santa Anita are cataloged to the November Sale:
Hip 144: Grade 1 winner Celestine (Turf Sprint-G1).
Hip 125: Azara, a half-sister to champion Tepin (Mile-G1) and multiple Grade 2
winner Vyjack (Las Vegas Dirt Mile-G1). In foal to Into Mischief, she is
carrying a three-quarter sibling to Vyjack.
Hip 264: My Tina, dam of multiple Grade 1 winner Midnight Storm (Mile). She is
in foal to Bodemeister and carries a three-quarter sibling to Midnight Storm.
Hip 274: Grade 1 winner Paola Queen (Filly and Mare Sprint-G1).
Hip 436: Weanling filly by Can the Man who is a half-sister to Canadian Horse of
the Year Catch a Glimpse (Filly and Mare Turf-G1)
Hip 447: Ithinkisawapudycat, dam of Sweet Loretta (Juvenile Fillies).
Hip 458: Kadira, dam of Paola Queen, in foal to Tale of the Cat.
The November Sale will feature the dispersals of Ernie Semersky and Dory
Newell's Conquest Stables, for which Lane's End will serve as agent; Marc
Ferrell's VinMar Farm (St. George Sales, agent); and Jim Eigel's Rosemont Farm
(Trackside Farm, agent).
The complete dispersal of Conquest Farm comprises 115 broodmares,
racing/broodmare prospects and racing/stallion prospects. Among the offerings
are Grade 1 winner My Conquestadory, in foal to leading sire Tapit, and her
weanling colt by Tapit; 2014 Sovereign Award winner Conquest Typhoon and Grade 2
winner and Sovereign Award finalist Conquest Daddyo.
Claiborne Farm will consign the Phipps Stable's 11-horse reduction, which
includes fillies and mares from some of racing's most prolific families. Among
the offerings are 2005 Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1) winner Pleasant Home, in foal
to Orb; graded stakes-placed Sea Island, a full sister to Grade 2 winner
Sightseeing, in foal to Hard Spun; Secret Agenda, a three-year-old daughter of
Malibu Moon out of champion Smuggler; and Sound the Trumpets, a three-year-old
filly out of multiple Grade 1 winner My Flag and a half-sister to champion Storm
Flag Flying.
Horses of racing age will be offered on November 14-15, and will feature the
consignments of WinStar Racing, agent, and Mill Ridge Sales, agent, as well as
horses from the Conquest Stables dispersal. Among the 2016 stakes winners sold
at the November Sale are Grade 1 winner Haveyougoneaway (entered in the
Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint) and Photo Call (entered in the Breeders'
Cup Mile) and Grade 3 winners Barbados and Scuba (entered in Friday's
Marathon-G2 at Santa Anita).
Broodmares cataloged to the November Sale are in foal to 217 proven and exciting
young stallions around the world and include the first mares in foal to 2015
Triple Crown and Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) winner American Pharoah, who entered
stud this year. Mares are in foal to such other stallions as Bernardini,
Bodemeister, Candy Ride, Curlin, Declaration of War, Distorted Humor, Empire
Maker, Ghostzapper, Giant's Causeway, Gleneagles, Honor Code, Liam's Map, Malibu
Moon, Medaglia d'Oro, More Than Ready, Orb, Palace Malice, Pioneerof the Nile,
Shanghai Bobby, Speightstown, Tapit, Uncle Mo and War Front.
The 192 sires of weanlings in the catalog include Animal Kingdom, Australia,
Awesome Again, Bernardini, Bodemeister, Candy Ride, Curlin, Dansili, Distorted
Humor, Frankel, Giant's Causeway, Kitten's Joy, Malibu Moon, Medaglia d'Oro,
Orb, Pioneerof the Nile, Scat Daddy, Shanghai Bobby, Speightstown, Tapit, Tiznow,
Uncle Mo, Verrazano and War Front.
Headlining last year's November Sale was champion Take Charge Brandi, who sold
for $6 million to be the world's highest-priced Thoroughbred sold at public
auction in 2015. For the second consecutive year, the November Sale established
a North American record price for a weanling when a filly by War Front out of
Grade 1 winner Take Charge Lady (Take Charge Brandi's second dam) sold for $3.2
million.
Grade 1 winners in 2016 who were sold as weanlings at the November Sale are
champion and Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Nyquist, Beach Patrol (Secretariat),
Bradester (Stephen Foster), Cavorting (Personal Ensign and Ogden Phipps),
Drefong (King's Bishop), Mshawish (Donn), Sweet Loretta (Spinaway) and Union
Strike (Del Mar Debutante).
The first two sessions of the November Sale comprise the premier Book 1 catalog.
The format for the entire sale, which covers 13 sessions, is as follows:
Book 1 (Tuesday-Wednesday, November 8-9) – Sessions begin at 11 a.m. (EST).
Books 2-7 (Thursday-Sunday, November 10-20) – Sessions begin at 10 a.m.
