Easy Feeling tops Day 3 at Keeneland November

Easy Feeling brought $650,000 on Day 3 of Keeneland November (Keeneland Photo)
Hip No. 792, EASY FEELING, a four-year-old daughter of Elusive Quality in foal to War Front, sold for $650,000 to become the highest-priced horse during Thursday's third session of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.

Claiborne Farm, agent, consigned Easy Feeling, out of the Storm Cat mare Wonder Woman. She is a half-sister to French stakes winners War Officer and Doo Lang from the family of Grade 2 winner Wandering Star, Group 2 winner War Command and Group 3 winner Naval Officer.

Hip 722, Grade 3 winner BRYAN'S JEWEL, an eight-year-old daughter of Rockport Harbor in foal to Speightstown, sold to P.L.W., agent for Timber Town and Jane Winegardner, for $580,000. Bedouin Bloodstock, agent, consigned Bryan's Jewel, from the family of champion Left Bank.

PLEASANT HOME, winner of the 2005 Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1) in foal to Orb, sold to Charles Fipke for $530,000 as Hip 543. Claiborne Farm, agent for Phipps Stable Reduction, consigned Pleasant Home, a 15-year-old daughter of Seeking the Gold from the family of Grade 1 winners Sky Beauty, Point of Entry and Pine Island.

Fipke bred and races Pleasant Home's Grade 3-placed grandson Tale of S'avall, by his stallion Tale of Ekati. He plans to breed Pleasant Home to Tale of Ekati.

"She is a Breeder's Cup Distaff winner and I think that properly mated -- even though she is 15 -- that I can do all right with her," Fipke said. "I bought a mare who was either 17 or 18 called Lady Shirl, and we got a Breeders' Cup winner (2011 Filly and Mare Turf [G1] winner Perfect Shirl). I figure I would give it a try with this one too. (Claiborne) says she is a sweety and she is. She's just absolutely gorgeous. She's got a really nice personality, and I told them we would look after her excellently and that she would be on the farm till she dies."

WinStar Farm paid $480,000 for SEA ISLAND, also consigned by Claiborne Farm, agent for the Phipps Stable Reduction. The seven-year-old Pulpit mare, in foal to Hard Spun, is a full sister to Grade 2 winner Sightseeing. She entered the ring as Hip 590

"A really nice race mare (from the) Phipps family," WinStar's Elliott Walden said. "I thought she would be a good addition to our broodmare band. We might breed her to Pioneerof the Nile, but we will see and evaluate that later. We are really excited to have her. We thought we could get her a little sooner (in regards to price) but the last mare we bought from Mr. Phipps was Supercharger (dam of WinStar's homebred 2010 Kentucky Derby [G1] winner Super Saver), so if we have as much luck with her, then we will be in good shape."

P.L.W., agent for Timber Town and Jane Winegardner, paid $470,000 for Hip 558, QUEENIE'S SONG, a five-year-old daughter of Unbridled's Song in foal to Lemon Drop Kid. Lane's End, agent, consigned Queenie's Song, out of Queen of Money, by Corporate Report. She is a half-sister to stakes winners Quiet Cash and Pocketfullofpesos.

"Mares have been exceedingly tough (to buy) in the last couple of days, so we are really happy to get this mare," buyer Patrick Lawley-Wakelin said. "We love who she is in foal to: Lemon Drop Kid. He is such an outstanding stallion and you can't ask for a better broodmare sire than Unbridled's Song."

The session's top-priced weanling, sold to Stonestreet Stables for $390,000, is a filly by Speightstown out of Grade 2 winner Nikkis Smartypants from the family of Grade 1 winner Diamondrella. Bedouin Bloodstock, agent, consigned the filly as Hip 526.

The Keeneland November Sale continues through November 20, with each session beginning at 10 a.m. (ET). For complete results please visit keeneland.com.
