Hip No. 4061,
COURAGEISAMAJOR -ITY, a four-year-old daughter
of Medaglia d'Oro in foal to first-year sire Carpe Diem, winner of Keeneland's
Blue Grass (G1) in 2015, sold to Hot Wire, agent for Richard D. Schibell, for
$125,000 and was the most expensive purchase during Friday's 11th session of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.
On Friday, Keeneland sold 211 horses for $1,976,200, up
12.64 percent from the 11th session in 2015 when 175 horses grossed $1,754,500.
The average of $9,366 was 6.58 percent below last year's $10,026. The median of
$5,000 was down 16.67 percent compared to $6,000 last year.
Cumulatively, with two sessions remaining in the 2016
November Sale, Keeneland has sold 2,382 horses for $213,684,200, down slightly
from the $217,740,000 for 2,375 horses purchased last year. The average of
$89,708 decreased 2.15 percent versus last year's $91,680, while the median of
$32,000 is 5.88 percent below last year's $34,000.
Upson Downs Farm, agent, consigned Courageisamajority, who
is out of the multiple Grade 3-winning Chester House mare Hostess. She is from
the family of 2016 Rebel (G2), Indiana Derby (G2) and West Virginia Derby (G2)
winner Cupid, Grade 3 winners Heart Ashley and Ashley's Kitty and stakes winner
Indianapolis.
With the purchase, Hot Wire, agent, was the session's
leading buyer.
Friday's top-priced weanling was Hip 3841, a daughter of
Cairo Prince sold to Dubois Bloodstock for $65,000. Bill Murphy, agent,
consigned the filly, who is out of the Malibu Moon mare Nakiska Moon. She is
from the family of Grade 1 winners Desert Stormer and Better Lucky.
Leading consignor Lane's End, agent, sold 22 horses for
$255,800.
