Lady Susan tops penultimate Keeneland session at $42,000

LADY SUSAN, a mare by Pleasant Tap in foal to Point of Entry, sold to Adel M.
Alataway for $42,000 to top Saturday's 12th session of the Keeneland November
Breeding Stock Sale.
Consigned by Adena Springs, Lady Susan is out of the winning Regal Classic
mare Georgiana Lake, and from the family of Grade 1 winners Magazine and Relaxed
Gesture. She sold with a no-guarantee season to Awesome Again.
At $40,000, the second high seller was the winning four-year-old Bertrando
gelding PORTANDO purchased by Three Diamonds Farm. Gainesway, agent, consigned
Portando, who is out of the stakes-winning Choisir mare Porto Marmay and from
the family of Hong Kong champion River Verdon. |
On Saturday, Keeneland sold 149 horses for $918,900, down 24.6 percent versus
last year when 200 horses grossed $1,219,400. The average of $6,167 was just
above last year's $6,097. The median of $3,700 remained unchanged from 2015.
With one session remaining in the 13-day auction, Keeneland has sold 2,531
horses for $214,603,100, down 2 percent from the $218,959,400 grossed by 2,575
horses at this point in the 2015 sale. The average of $84,790 is just below last
year's $85,033, while the median of $30,000 remains the same from 2015.
The final session of the November Sale begins Sunday at 10 a.m. (EST). The
