Miss Temple City earns hard-fought victory in Matriarch

Miss Temple City rallied wide into the stretch of Sunday's Matriarch Stakes (G1) at Del Mar, catching pacesetter Stays in Vegas and then just holding off the late-running Roca Rojo to score a nose win.

In Japan, Sound True put in his own furious late rally to take the Champions Cup (Jpn-G1), which was formerly known as the Japan Cup Dirt, at Chukyo Racecourse.
