On the Kentucky Derby worktab Futurity S. (G2) winner TALE OF EKATI (Tale of the Cat), who defeated champion War Pass (Cherokee Run) in the Wood Memorial (G1) on April 5 at Aqueduct, breezed four furlongs in :49 1/5 on Keeneland's Polytrack on Thursday. Trainer Barclay Tagg described the move as "a little maintenance work after his race." Tale of Ekati rallied along the inside to edge War Pass by a half-length in the nine-furlong Wood Memorial. The bay colt currently ranks third on the Kentucky Derby (G1) graded stakes earnings list with $738,000. Tagg reported that Eibar Coa will have the mount in the Derby. At Churchill Downs, a trio of contenders recorded workouts in preparation for the 134th running of the Kentucky Derby. Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott sent out COURT VISION (Gulch) and Z HUMOR (Distorted Humor) for half-mile works. And co-owner and trainer Louie Roussel III sent out Illinois Derby (G2) winner RECAPTURETHEGLORY (Cherokee Run) for a somewhat eventful five-furlong breeze. Remsen S. (G2) winner Court Vision, who was a closing third in the Wood Memorial, blazed four furlongs on a fast track in a bullet :46 1/5 under jockey Neil Poznansky. The dark bay colt breezed about 30 minutes before the break for track maintenance, and his work was easily the fastest of 25 at the distance. Court Vision worked in company with Five Gold Rings (Touch Gold), an unraced three-year-old filly who started the work a couple of lengths ahead of Court Vision. Court Vision blew past her in the stretch and finished well clear of his workmate. Five Gold Rings completed her move in :47 4/5. Churchill Downs clockers did not record fractional times for Court Vision, but did catch his final quarter-mile in :23. "He went very well," said Mott, the all-time leading trainer at Churchill Downs who is looking for his first victory in the Kentucky Derby. Court Vision currently ranks ninth on the Kentucky Derby graded stakes earnings list with $331,872. Delta Jackpot S. (G3) winner Z Humor, who finished an even third in the Illinois Derby, worked four furlongs in :47 3/5 under jockey Rene Douglas. The move was the co-third fastest at the distance. Z Humor worked in company with three-year-old maiden winner Radius (Arch), who was timed in :48. Radius got a two-length jump on Z Humor, but the latter finished about a half-length in front. Z Humor was timed in fractions of :12 3/5, :24 3/5 and :36. He galloped out five furlongs in 1:00 4/5. Z Humor currently ranks seventh on the graded earnings list with $579,000. Rafael Bejarano will ride Z Humor in Derby 134. Recapturetheglory, who arrived at Churchill Downs on Monday, breezed five furlongs in 1:01 under assistant trainer Lara Van Deren. The move ranked fifth out of 16 works at the distance. Recapturetheglory worked just after the break for track maintenance and was timed in fractions of :12 1/5, :24 1/5, :36 2/5 and :48 3/5. The bay colt galloped out six furlongs in 1:16 3/5. Roussel did have an anxious moment following the work when Recapturetheglory had to check during his gallop-out when a loose dog scampered across the track in front of the colt. "I told her I wanted to go in 1:01, so that was good," Roussel said. "I didn't like the gallop out in 1:16, but she had to avoid the dog. But he just ran 12 days ago. The test will be on the next week's work, on the 24th or 25th. He'll go about five-eighths or three-quarters and that will be the real test. But this was just to get the air back in him, and I think it was what I needed." Recapturetheglory rolled to a front-running, four-length victory in the nine-furlong Illinois Derby on April 5 at Hawthorne. He currently ranks 12th on the graded earnings list with $300,000. E.T. Baird is expected to retain the mount for Derby 134. In other Kentucky Derby news: Lane's End S. (G2) winner ADRIANO (A.P. Indy) traveled by van from Keeneland to Churchill Downs on Thursday. The Graham Motion trainee made the same trip on Sunday for a half-mile work at Churchill Downs, but now will remain at the Louisville, Kentucky, track through the Kentucky Derby. Tampa Bay Derby (G3) winner BIG TRUCK (Hook and Ladder), who finished a disappointing 11th in last Saturday's Blue Grass S. (G1), will be ridden by Javier Castellano in the Derby. The bay colt, however, currently ranks 20th on the graded stakes earnings list with $194,500 and could be bumped out of the top 20, depending on what happens in Saturday's Lexington S. (G2) at Keeneland. Blue Grass winner MONBA (Maria's Mon) will be ridden in the Kentucky Derby by Ramon Dominguez, according to The Blood-Horse. Edgar Prado, who was aboard the Todd Pletcher trainee in the Blue Grass, will ride Adriano in the Derby.
