George and Lori Hall's two-year-old colt My Adonis delivered a winning performance in Saturday night's $200,000 Jean Lafitte Stakes and in the process set himself up for an appearance in the Grade 3, $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot.

Saddled by Belmont Stakes-winning trainer Kelly Breen, My Adonis pressed the early pace set by Top Cat Boogie and Flashy Kid before taking command turning for home in the one-mile event.

At the head of the stretch, My Adonis was in front by a length over Tiz Moe, who appeared to be poised for a stretch-long battle with his rival. But My Adonis would have none of that, as he drew clear under jockey Elvis Trujillo and won by a commanding 5 1/4 lengths.

Tiz Moe stayed on for second while Flashy Kid wound up another three lengths behind in third.

My Adonis, a son of Pleasantly Perfect out of the Elusive Quality mare Silent Justice, covered the distance over a fast track in 1:40 2/5. Sent off as the heavy favorite at odds of 3-5, he paid returned $3.20, $2.40 and $2.20.

Bred in Kentucky by K & G Stables, My Adonis has now won two of five starts and finished second three times. The winner's paycheck of $120,000 on Saturday night raised his career bankroll to $171,000.

Breen will now point My Adonis to the season's richest race on November 19. The winner takes home $600,000 in the $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot and that would be plenty of graded earnings to get him into the 2012 Kentucky Derby. Breen's previous Delta Downs Jackpot starters were West Side Bernie, who finished second to Big Drama in 2008, and Sweet Ducky, who wound up fourth behind Gourmet Dinner last year.

Another prep race took place on the Saturday program as the track hosted the $150,000 My Trusty Cat for two-year-old fillies at seven furlongs. The My Trusty Cat leads into the Grade 3, $500,000 Delta Downs Princess, which also takes place on November 19.

This year's My Trusty Cat was won by Citizen Advocate, who was ridden to victory by jockey Luis Jurado. Citizen Advocate set the pace and held on by a length over Devious Intent. Ithinkisawapudycat finished another five lengths back in third. The winner covered the distance in 1:26 4/5.

Citizen Advocate is a two-year-old filly by Proud Citizen out of the Horse Chestnut mare Twilight Service. The chestnut was bred in Florida by Peter Vegso Racing Stable, is owned by White Hall Lane Farm and trained by David A. Vivian.

The win by Citizen Advocate marked the fourth of her six-race career. She earned $90,000 for her effort on Saturday, which raised her lifetime bankroll to $247,900.
