Repole Stable's Overprepared (Quality Road) successfully stretched out to a mile and 70 yards on Friday to capture the $100,000 Busanda S. by 1 1/4 lengths over Liberty Island (Harlem Rocker) on Aqueduct's fast inner dirt. Irad Ortiz Jr. was aboard the even-money favorite, who paid $4.20 for the win.

The Busanda triumph awarded the Todd Pletcher trainee with 10 points toward a starting berth in the Kentucky Oaks on May 1 at Churchill Downs. Only the second race of the new year in the Road to the Kentucky Oaks series, the 2003 Busanda saw Princess of Sylmar romp ahead of a half-length victory in the Kentucky Oaks three races later.

Friday's edition of the race was rescheduled after last Saturday's card was canceled. It picked up an additional three sophomore fillies when redrawn, including Overprepared who grabbed command when the gates opened and proceeded to set splits of :24 4/5, :50 1/5, 1:15 1/5 and 1:40 3/5 before holding off Liberty Island to stop the clock in 1:44 3/5.

Liberty Island entered the race off a 3 1/2-length debut score over track and distance on December 3, and garnered four points for the Kentucky Oaks. Diannestillworks (Scat Daddy) steadied off the heels of Liberty Island heading into the first turn and got up for third to earn two points on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks, just a head in front of Sweet on Smokey (Successful Appeal) who took home one point.

Overprepared scored her maiden debut on October 19 at Belmont Park by 3 1/2 lengths before closing out her juvenile campaign with a third-place effort in the Smart Halo S. at Laurel Park on November 15. Making her sophomore debut in the Busanda, the Kentucky-bred filly improved her overall career mark to 3-2-0-1, $115,000, by claiming her first stakes win.

Overprepared is out of the unraced Daily Special (Dayjur), making her a half-sister to Grade 1 heroine Shadow Cast (Smart Strike) and stakes runner-up Queen Marge (Grindstone). Her female family also includes two-time champion Desert Vixen (Desert Trial), Grade 1 divas Panty Raid (Include) and Stub (In Reality), and Grade 2-winning sire Valid Appeal (In Reality).
