When I try to handicap in Neurax/NeuraxPro I get an error that says 'Could not open input file', what is wrong? Document Number: 10060 This is usually a conflict between Neurax trying to unzip the file and a ".zip" file association in windows. This means that windows has been told to open .zip files with something that is not compatible with the Neurax unzip module. Another reason that you might get this is if you are saving the datafiles to the Internet Explorer "Temporary Internet Files" folder. This is not a normal folder and files saved here are sometimes not accesible to other programs. The file will end up being saved here and neurax will find it there if you make the mistake of trying to open the file from the browser instead of saving it to the hard disk. If you see that Neurax is finding datafiles here, you should delete temporary Internet files in your Internet Options applet (usually under the View menu in Internet Explorer). If you get this error and you are downloading to a normal folder, you have two options. Upgrade or install your compression software like Win Zip or PK Ware, and unzip your datafiles with that outside of Neurax/NeuraxPro before handicapping. Or if you do not use WinZip or similar you can follow the steps below to fix a bad file association. The following will usually make Neurax/NeuraxPro stop giving you the error, but if you use WinZip or another compression utility, you may not be able to use them by double-clicking on zip files after you follow this: 1. From your desktop, double-click on "My Computer". 2. Explorer should open. At the top of this window click on View, and then "Folder Options..." 3. Now you should see the "Folder Options" window. Click on the tab at the top that says file types. 4. You will see a list of "Registered File Types". You need to find the one that has been set up fo files that end in ".zip", the first place to look is near the bottom, if you see one called ".zip files" or "Win Zip Files" that is the one, double-click on it and proceed to STEP 6. 5. If you do not see ".zip files" or "Win Zip Files" after scrolling through the list. You will need to click once on each of the file types to find out if any of them have been set up with ".zip" as the Extension. So click once on each file type and look at the Extension below to see if it is ZIP and there are not more than one extention, when you find the one with ZIP and nothing else double click on it and proceed to step 6. If the file type has ZIP as well as other extensions then you should probably call technical support for assistance because if you proceed here you might cause problems with the other extension(s) in that file type. 6. After double-clicking on the file-type you should see the "Edit File Type" window. In the "Actions" box delete any and all actions by selecting each one and then clicking the "Remove" button. 7. When you have deleted all actions in the actions box, click "New". 8. Click "Browse..." 9. Set the "Look In" box to your C: drive. 10. Look for your Neurax/NeuraxPro folder and double-click on it. 11. Look for the unzip PROGRAM it has a CONSOLE icon. (NOT the folder called unzip, the white box with the blue border is the correct icon). Double-click on the unzip console program icon. 12. You should be finished. Click "Ok" (or "Close" depending on your Windows version the button could be either) on each of the windows until you are back at my computer. Close it and try Neurax(Pro). If this did not resolve the error. Call BRISnet Technical Support.
