She Says It Best retired

Last updated: 1/12/06 4:12 PM

One day after working six furlongs in 1:12 3/5 at Gulfstream Park, Alcibiades
S. (G2) winner SHE SAYS IT BEST (Stormy Atlantic) has been retired from racing,
trainer Vickie Foley said Thursday.

“She worked great yesterday morning and appeared to come back fine at first,”
Foley said. “But later on, some physical issues came out and we couldn’t go on
with her. She’s already on her way to Ocala and will be bred.”

After winning two of her first three starts, She Says It Best captured the Anna M.
Fisher Debutante S. at Ellis Park by seven lengths, then finished second by a
head in the Bassinet S. at River Downs. She drove to a 2 1/2-length victory in
the Alcibiades at Keeneland, then had trouble at the start before finishing a
distant ninth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) at Belmont Park. In
what turned out to be her final career start, the bay finished a close second to
French Park (Ecton Park) in the Golden Rod S. (G2) at Churchill Downs. She will
head to the breeding shed with a record of 8-4-2-0, $382,918.

She Says It Best, a half-sister to two stakes winners, is out of the unraced
Marsayas mare Bestsayes. She was purchased for $160,000 at the 2005 OBS February
Selected Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training.

Breeding plans were not announced.
