Scandalous Act, heroine of the Florida Stallion Stakes Series for fillies, and

Calder Turf Dash Stakes winner Bon Accord loaded on a van early Sunday morning

at Calder to begin their journey west to run in the Breeders' Cup World Championships at

Santa Anita Park November 1-2.

The Gilbert G. Campbell-bred and -owned Scandalous Act will be running

outside of her Calder

for the first time in the Breeders'

Cup Juvenile Fillies, which is scheduled as the first Breeders' Cup race on the

Saturday card.

Trainer Kathleen O'Connell hopes that Scandalous Act's demeanor will help

prevent any travel jitters she may experience leaving her home track for the

Breeders' Cup.

"I have always said the best thing about her is her mind," O'Connell

asserted. "I am

counting on it even more for this experience, especially since the furthest she

has ever traveled is from Ocala to Miami. We are taking a lot of giant steps all

at once, but if I had to pick one horse in my barn to handle it all it would be

her because she has been nothing but class, just total class to work with."

Scandalous Act heads into the Breeders' Cup on a three-race winning streak after

easily sweeping the Florida Stallion Stakes Series for fillies. She dominated

the six-furlong Desert Vixen division in July by 7 1/2 lengths before

cruising to victory by 8 3/4 lengths in the seven-furlong

Susan's Girl division in August. Last-out she rolled home in the 1 1/16-mile My Dear

Girl division by 5 3/4 lengths on October 12.

The Act of Duty dark bay filly has made

all of her career appearances at Calder. In May in her first start,

Scandalous Act sailed to the wire-to-win by 6 1/2 lengths in a 4 1/2-furlong maiden special weight race. In June in her stakes debut, the 5

1/2-furlong J J'sdream, the Florida-bred suffered her only career loss with

a seventh-place finish.

Scandalous Act's first-ever Breeders' Cup experience also marks the first time

in which O'Connell has a horse in the prestigious event.

"It is a great honor," O'Connell noted. "I think it is like you finally made it

to the Super Bowl. It is up there."

Bon Accord's run in the Breeders' Cup also marks the first time his trainer,

Antonio Sano, has a horse in the elite event. The chestnut son of Showing Up is scheduled to run in

the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf on Friday,

which is slated as the second Breeders' Cup race on that card.

"I am very satisfied and excited about going to the Breeders' Cup with a horse

that was developed in my barn," Sano said. "Will I be a little nervous? No, I

will be concerned about a good performance for the horse."

Unlike Scandalous Act, the Gelfenstein Farm-owned Bon Accord has traveled

outside of Florida to race previously when he ventured to Lexington, Kentucky,

for the Bourbon Stakes three weeks ago at Keeneland. He finished third in

that 1 1/16-mile off-the-turf event.

"Thank God everything is under control," Sano stated. "He has already traveled to

Keeneland, and the horse took all of the trip fine, and I think for this trip he

is going to be the same way. We have the most comfortable transportation for the

horse.

"He is feeling good. We are without worry that we are going to have a good

role for the benefit of the horse and for our racetrack (Calder). It is

something very special. It is a very special feeling to reach that gold to run

in the Breeders' Cup."

Bon Accord drew ahead to score his first career stakes victory in his first

attempt by 1 3/4 lengths in the five-furlong Calder Turf Dash

Stakes in August. He broke his maiden first time out by 1 1/4 lengths in a 5 1/2-furlong maiden special weight race at Calder in

June before suffering his only career off-the-board finish when seventh in a 5

1/2-furlong allowance on the dirt at Gulfstream next out in August.

Scandalous Act worked four furlongs this Friday morning at Calder, covering

the distance in :51 4/5 with Eduardo Nunez aboard, while Bon Accord logged five

furlongs in 1:05 2/5 with Pedro Monterrey aboard Saturday morning at

the Miami Gardens, Florida, venue. Both horses worked after the renovation break on their respective days

in their only works for the Breeders' Cup since their most recent races.

Scandalous Act and Bon Accord joined Smile Sprint winner Bahamian Squall

aboard the van on Sunday morning as well as the Arabian horse Grilla.

Bahamian

Squall earned his trip to the Breeders' Cup with the Smile Sprint victory at

Calder on July 6, which is part of the Breeders' Cup "Win and You're In" Challenge Series. He is set

to compete in the Sprint on Saturday. Grilla most recently won the Delaware Park

Arabian Classic Handicap. He is scheduled to run in the UAE President's Cup

Stakes after the Breeders' Cup races on Friday.

The van departed Calder a little after 5 a.m. (EDT) bound for the Fort Lauderdale

International Airport to fly FedEx to the Memphis International Airport in

Tennessee. From there, they have about a three- to four-hour layover before

flying to the Los Angeles International Airport in California and vanning to

Santa Anita. Their approximate arrival there would be about 6:30 p.m. (EDT).

O'Connell was scheduled to arrive in California on Sunday ahead of Scandalous Act, while

Sano's assistant trainer Jesus Prada would receive Bon Accord in California.

O'Connell plans on staying in California all week. Sano heads to California on

Thursday, the day before Bon Accord's race.
