Clyde D. Rice's Office Drama became champion Big Drama's (Montbrook) first

winner as a sire on Sunday when awarded the win following the disqualification

of P T O's Babe (Trappe Shot) in the

4TH race at Presque Isle Downs.

The juvenile filly swung five wide for the stretch run but was impeded by P T

O's Babe in deep stretch when that one lugged out. Office Drama finished a

half-length behind in second while P T O's Babe stopped the clock in :52 2/5 for

4 1/2 furlongs on the all-weather Tapeta. However, it didn't take long for the

inquiry sign to be posted or for her jockey, Mario Pino, to lodge a claim of

foul.

Upon review, the stewards disqualified P T O's Babe to second, giving the

Lance Stokes-trained Office Drama the win in her first start and her sire his

first scorer.

Big Drama was honored with an Eclipse Award as the champion male sprinter in

2010 after taking that year's Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1). He also captured the

Smile Sprint H. (G2) and Ponche H. while placing in the Forego S. (G1) and

Alfred G. Vanderbilt H. (G1) that season.

The nine-year-old stallion began his career at Calder, breaking his maiden in

his second try and going on to sweep the Florida Stallion Stakes series with

victories in the Dr. Fager, Affirmed and In Reality divisions. He captured the

Delta Downs Jackpot S. (G3) to close out his juvenile campaign and opened his

three-year-old season with a win in the Swale S. (G2). Unfortunately, the David

Fawkes trainee was disqualified to second in that contest and wouldn't find the

winner's circle again until taking the Red Legend S. two races later.

Sandwiched in between those two efforts was a fifth-place run in the

Preakness S. (G1), and Big Drama capped his 2009 campaign with a near miss

second in the West Virginia Derby (G2) and a sixth-placing in the King's Bishop

S. (G1).

He raced just three times following his 2010 championship season,

adding the Mr. Prospector S. (G3) and Whippleton S. to his resume before

finishing seventh in the 2011 Breeders' Cup Sprint.

Big Drama, campaigned by breeder Harold L. Queen, retired to the breeding shed having set two track records at Gulfstream

Park and compiling a 19-11-4-1, $2,746,060 career record.

Out of the unraced Riveting Drama (Notebook), the Florida-bred Big Drama is a

half-brother to Sheer Drama (Burning Roma), who captured the Royal Delta S. (G2)

on March 21 prior to running second in the La Troienne S. (G1) on Kentucky Oaks Day and

Saturday night's Fleur de Lis H. (G2). His other siblings include unbeaten stakes victress Drama's Way (Farma Way),

multiple Grade 2-placed stakes winner Little Drama (Burning Roma) and stakes

heroine Queen Drama (Burning Roma).

Big Drama currently stands for $10,000, stands and nurses, at Bridledwood

Farm near Ocala, Florida.
