Pool 3 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager (KDFW) and the single Kentucky Oaks Future Wager (KOFW) both closed at 6 p.m. (ET) on Sunday. While the KDFW saw the Mutuel Field, or “All Other 3-Year-Olds (#24),” bet down to 9-2 favoritism, Bellafina (#1) closed at those same odds to top the KOFW.

The field opened at 4-1 and rose slightly to 9-2 at the conclusion of Pool 3. Only two individual betting interests also showed single-digit odds by the time Pool 3 ended: Game Winner (#7) and Improbable (#11).
Undefeated champion and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) hero Game Winner saw his initial 5-1 odds raise to 6-1 while unbeaten Grade 1 victor Improbable’s morning-line 8-1 price dropped to 6-1. Both colts are trained by Bob Baffert, worked at Los Alamitos on Sunday and are expected to make their sophomore debuts in the Rebel Stakes (G2) at Oaklawn Park on March 16.
Pool 3 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager, which opened March 8, saw total handle of $385,464 ($282,199 in the Win pool and $103,265 in Exactas) versus last year’s $394,763 ($277,469 in the Win pool and $117,294 in Exactas).
The fourth and final Kentucky Derby Future Wager is scheduled for April 5-7.

The only pool of the Kentucky Oaks Future Wager ran concurrently with Pool 3 of the KDFW. Bellafina was bet down to 9-2 from her opening 5-1 odds, beating out the “All Other 3-Year-Old Fillies (#24)” interest, which closed at 5-1 following an 8-1 morning line.
The multiple Grade 1-scoring Bellafina has captured both of her starts thus far this year and is on track for the April 6 Santa Anita Oaks (G1) for trainer Simon Callaghan.

Champion two-year-old filly Jaywalk (#10) was bet down to 7-1 after opening at 8-1 on the KOFW. The Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) winner finished fourth while making her three-year-old bow on March 2 in the Davona Dale Stakes (G2) at Gulfstream Park.
Chasing Yesterday’s (#4) morning-line odds of 8-1 remained the same as the Oaks Future Wager concluded. The Baffert trainee has yet to make her sophomore debut, closing out 2018 with a head score in the Starlet Stakes (G1) at Los Alamitos. The Tapit filly, who is a half-sister to Triple Crown hero American Pharoah, was the only other betting interest in the KOFW who closed with single-digit odds.
The 2019 Kentucky Oaks Future Wager saw total handle of $88,652 ($65,252 in the Win pool and $23,400 in Exactas) compared to last year’s $70,993 ($47,699 in the Win pool and $23,294 in Exactas).
There was an additional wagering opportunity besides the two Future Wagers. The Kentucky Oaks/Derby Double Future Wager allowed fans to bet early on who they think will win the two contests. Total handle for the bet came to $78,546, while last year’s wager saw handle of $69,725.
