Race Summary |
---|
SHIROCCO (GER) was well placed just behind the early pacesetter, cut into the
leader's margin on the far turn, took charge at the quarter pole, dug in when
threatened in midstretch and edged away in the final sixteenth. ACE (IRE) was
unhurried while saving ground, raced in hand for a mile, steadily worked his way
forward along the inside, made a move to threaten outside the winner in upper
stretch but was no match for that one while holding well for the place. AZAMOUR
(IRE) raced far back to the turn, altered course in upper stretch then closed
late to gain a share. BAGO (FR) was rated in the middle of the pack while saving
ground, rallied along the rail entering the stretch, checked in upper stretch
then rallied belatedly. ENGLISH CHANNEL raced up close while four wide, lodged a
move from outside to threaten entering the stretch but couldn't sustain his bid.
SILVERFOOT raced five wide to the turn, steadied in traffic nearing the stretch
and passed only tiring horses. BETTER TALK NOW saved ground early, lodged a
brief four wide move midway on the turn and flattened out. GUN SALUTE was never
a factor while five wide. FOURTY NINERS SON raced far back for a mile, closed
the gap to reach contention on the turn four wide then faded in the drive.
LEPRECHAUN KID raced wide throughout. LAURA'S LUCKY BOY never reached
contention. SHAKESPEARE raced up close while three wide for a mile, steadied on
the turn then faltered. SHAKE THE BANK was used up setting the early pace.
