Race Summary |
---|
DIPLOMAT LADY, bumped at the start by JOINT EFFORT, gained a slight edge early
while racing near the inside, dueled with YACHATS, was headed briefly by that
one on the turn, regained the advantage, moved clear into the upper stretch and
was kept to her task. LAKE ALICE tracked the dueling leaders four or five wide,
fell back slightly in the upper stretch, then came again in the final sixteenth
as clearly second best. WILDCAT BETTIE B, never far back and five or six wide,
made a menacing run entering the upper stretch, reached closest attendance to
DIPLOMAT LADY but failed to sustain the needed momentum. INDIA, within easy
striking distance to the stretch and four or five wide, came up empty. JOINT
EFFORT came out bumping the winner at the break, raced three or four wide to the
stretch, came a bit wider for the drive and improved position. YACHATS went up
early to contest the pace outside of DIPLOMAT LADY, reached the front briefly
midway on the turn but failed to keep pace thereafter. FAST DEAL, in contention
near the inside until the final quarter, gradually weakened. TERRI'S CHARMER,
slow to begin and outrun on the backstretch, was taken up behind DANCE DAILY
when that one broke down. MOTION bobbled at the start and leaned in bumping with
WILDCAT BETTIE B, was steadied soon after, raced off the inside, was checked
hard and taken wider when DANCE DAILY broke down and never menaced. DANCE DAILY
worked her way in behind horses early, raced three or four wide and broke down
nearing the final quarter.
