Race Summary |
---|
WITH DISTINCTION stalked between horses on the backstretch and three deep on the
turn and into the stretch and rallied gamely between horses under some urging
while drifting out a bit and gamely prevailed. JUNGLE PRINCE bumped at the
start, chased inside, moved up along the rail on the turn, bid on the fence in
the stretch, gained a short lead past midstretch and held on well but was edged
late. JET WEST stalked between horses then off the rail, waited momentarily into
the turn, continued off the inside, swung four wide into the stretch and closed
willingly three deep on the line. SLEW'S PRINCE quickly sprinted clear, angled
in and set the pace off the rail, fought back in the stretch but weakened late.
GRAY BLACK N WHITE bumped at the start, chased between horses then toward the
inside on the turn, came out into the stretch and lacked the needed rally. RED
WARRIOR off a bit slowly, saved ground off the pace, continued inside in the
stretch and improved position. SCOTTY'S LADD stalked five wide then four wide on
the backstretch, continued outside on the turn and four wide into the stretch
and weakened. STONE RAIN stalked a bit off the rail then inside on the turn,
came between horses into the stretch and weakened. FUSAICHI ROCK STAR bumped at
the start, settled three deep then outside on the turn, came four wide into the
stretch and did not rally. EXCESS SUMMER close up tracking the pace between
horses then three deep into the turn, dropped back on the bend and weakened. A
claim of foul by the rider of JET WEST against the winner for alleged whip
interference in the stretch was not allowed by the stewards, who ruled the
videotape failed to substantiate the claim.
