Race Summary |
---|
ALUMNI HALL leaned in bumping with HABANEROS at the break, eased out five wide
entering the backstretch to track the pace, inched to challenge, battled with ON
THIN ICE around the far turn and into the stretch while outside that one, gained
a narrow advantage, then proved best under strong urging. ON THIN ICE, always
well placed while three or four wide, moved with the winner while inside that
one on the far turn, gained a slim lead, battled the remainder while inside
ALUMNI HALL and wasn't good enough. M B SEA, reserved early and near the inside,
was unhurried to the far turn, eased out to commence a sweeping run with three
furlongs remaining, advanced boldly seven wide into the final furlong but failed
to sustain the needed momentum. TRAPPED AGAIN, never far back and racing in
behind front-running MAMBO TRAIN, continued inside into the stretch, remained
prominent into deep stretch and failed to fire. HABANEROS, bumped at the start
by ALUMNI HALL, made a mild run into the upper stretch but failed to continue.
LORD OF THE GAME forced the pace three or four wide for six furlongs and tired.
FANTASTICAT gained a striking position early, raced in behind the leaders, was
near the rail on the far turn, swung out five wide for the drive and flattened
out. MAMBO TRAIN gained the early advantage at the start, raced under careful
handling while near the inside, lost the edge just before going six furlongs and
weakened steadily thereafter. SHANIKO raced in contention for six furlongs while
four or five wide and faded.
