Race Summary

INTERCONTINENTAL (GB) gained a clear advantage on the first turn, went along under careful handling while five wide, repelled a challenge from LA REINA nearing the final quarter, reopened a clear lead, then was hard ridden in the drive to hold sway. WEND, a bit sluggish to begin and six wide, inched up nearing the stretch, came out eight wide and was going well at the end. KATDOGAWN (GB), well placed four wide from early on, maneuvered inside the winner for the stretch run and wasn't good enough. LA REINA tracked the winner five wide from the first turn on, was asked for her best nearing the stretch, offered an earnest challenge entering the stretch but couldn't sustain the needed momentum. VERY VERY, reserved early and angled near the inside, advanced between foes into the upper stretch, worked her way out seven wide in the final furlong and offered a mild gain. RIVER BELLE (GB), unhurried early and five wide, was put to a drive nearing the final quarter, came wider into the lane and failed to respond. SHACONAGE, well placed near the inside early, raced within easy striking distance into the stretch and flattened out. TICKER TAPE (GB) raced in contention while in behind the leaders to the stretch and tired. PRETTY JANE, briefly in front after the break, was eased back inside, made a run when asked leaving the backstretch but was done approaching the stretch.
