Race Summary |
---|
CARTHAGE raced up inside in the opening quarter to gain a short lead at the half
mile pole, surrendered the advantage briefly at the three eighths pole but
regained command for good at mid turn, drew clear once in the stretch and held
driving. LOST IN THE FOG broke alertly to be the early leader then was headed by
the winner at the half pole, forged to the front without need of urging once on
the turn but could not match strides with that one into the stretch and lacked
the needed late response. ELEGANT ICE stalked the dueling leaders three wide to
mid turn and gradually weakened. TWENTYTHREEJAYBIRD was finished early.
