Race Summary

SHOWING UP, bumped after the break by MORE THAN REGAL and forced in on GONE PROSPECTING, settled near the inside under light restraint, continued near the rail around the far turn, eased out four wide entering the stretch, then was ridden hard to edge clear late while drifting in a bit at the end. LIKE NOW bobbled at the start when the ground appeared to break from under his rear feet, worked his way to the inside approaching the first turn, dueled with FAST PARADE while inside that one, went along under careful handling, lost the advantage entering the upper stretch to BEAR CHARACTER from the outside, then, while exchanging bumps with that rival through the final sixteenth, gamely earned the place. BEAR CHARACTER drifted in at the start, went up four wide to track the dueling leaders, inched to challenge nearing the stretch, gained a slim lead, then weakened when exchanging bumps with LIKE NOW in the late going. GREELEY'S LEGACY followed the leaders within easy striking distance four or five wide, was with the winner while outside that one nearing the stretch and flattened out when straightened for the drive. MORE THAN REGAL, jostled around in tight at the start, raced within easy striking distance three wide to the stretch and failed to offer a closing account. CHIN HIGH, outrun to the far turn and three or four wide, angled wider entering the lane but lacked a serious bid. FAST PARADE angled in early to vie for the lead outside of LIKE NOW, held on well for six furlongs while dueling, then tired gradually. HEMINGWAY'S KEY, in tight after the start, raced four wide, remained in contention for six furlongs, eased out wider for the drive but was empty. SPECIAL INTEREST raced five wide most of the way and never reached contention. GONE PROSPECTING, bumped after the start by SHOWING UP when that one was forced in, settled near the inside, never seriously menaced and wasn't persevered with in the stretch when hopelessly beaten.
