Race Summary |
---|
MIESQUE'S APPROVAL, in hand early and three wide, inched closer between rivals
on the far turn, came out five or six wide when straightened for the drive, then
closed gamely under pressure to be along in time. ARTIE SCHILLER, away in front
and taken in hand, eased outside of front-running GULCH APPROVAL to press that
one three or four wide, bumped lightly with that one when gaining a slight edge
entering the stretch, then was outfinished in a long drive. GOOD REWARD tracked
the pace from early on while four or five wide, moved boldly between foes
entering the upper stretch but couldn't muster a final response. HONOR IN WAR
followed the leaders five or six wide, was a factor for the last eighth and
failed to offer a closing bid. DRUM MAJOR gained a forward position near the
inside early, raced within easy striking distance to the stretch and was empty.
GULCH APPROVAL gained the lead early, raced under light rating near the inside,
lost the edge to ARTIE SCHILLER nearing the final quarter, was bumped by that
one and steadied lightly, then dropped back.
