Conditions: 6 1/2 FURLONGS MAIDEN STAKES. Pepper Oaks Farm S.. FOR MAIDEN COLTS AND GELDINGS THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD (BRED IN CALIFORNIA). By subscription of $50 each, on or before Friday, April 7. Closed with 52. or by supplementary nomination of $1,200 each by closing time of entries. Closed with 1. $100 to start, with $36,000 to the winner, $12,000 to second, $7,200 to third,. $3,600 to fourth and $1,200 to fifth. Weights: Three year olds 117 lbs.; older 124 lbs. Horses which have finished 2nd or 3rd in a non-claiming race in at least one of their last 3 starts preferred. Second preference will be given to non-starters for a claiming price. Third preference will be given to horses which have finished 2nd or 3rd for a claiming price in one of their last 2 starts. Should the race not be divided and the number ofentries exceed fourteen (14) preference will be determined by the above described conditions. All fees will be refunded to horses which fail to draw into this race. A Trophy will be presented to the winning owner. ( THIS RACE IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR BLACK TTYPE).

Race Summary |

BOOCFUSS chased outside then four wide leaving the backstretch, continued
outside on the turn and into the stretch and rallied under left handed urging to
edge the runner-up late. ONE DIXIE stalked outside a rival then a bit off the
rail, split rivals to gain a short lead in deep stretch and just missed. KAT
KALD KALAMAZOO chased between horses on the backstretch, split rivals on the
turn, came out into the stretch and gained the show late. L. A. PHIL bobbled at
the start, stalked three deep then bid outside a rival on the turn, gained the
advantage into the stretch and weakened late but just lost third. TIZMET
unhurried outside on the backstretch and turn, came four wide into the stretch
and improved position. DIXIE'S RULER off a bit slowly, moved up inside on the
backstretch and into the turn, came out leaving the bend and five wide into the
stretch and lacked the needed late kick. FREEDOM EVENT chased between horses or
off the rail, came three deep into the stretch and lacked the necessary
response. JOE MARKET also chased between horses then off the inside, came four
wide into the stretch and was not a threat. MADE IN CALIFORNIA unhurried off the
rail early, angled in on the turn, came out into the stretch and failed to
menace. MIDNIGHT CABINET sped to the early lead, set the paced off the rail then
dueled inside on the turn and to midstretch and also weakened. SLEWP JOHN B
allowed to settle outside chasing the pace, went four wide on the turn and was
not a factor. SEA BATTLE saved ground stalking the pace, dropped back on the
turn and weakened. BLAZING ASTROID close up tracking the pace inside on the
backstretch, steadied into the turn, also dropped back a bit off the rail on the
turn and weakened. SWISS ARROW forced or stalked the pace a bit off the rail
then inside, had little left for the stretch.
