Supplementary nominations may be made at the time of entry Thursday, March 23, 2006 by payment of $5,000 each (includes all fees). $100,000 Guaranteed. Monies to be divided 62% to the owner of the winner, 20% to second, 10% to third, 5% to fourth and 3% to fifth. Weight: 121 lbs. Non-winners of a Sweepstakes at a mile or over allowed, 2 lbs.; A Sweepstakes, 4 lbs.; a race other than maiden or claiming at a mile or over since December 5, 6 lbs. Preference to start will be given in the following order: Graded/Group Stakes Winners (in order I-II-III). Stakes winners, then highest career earnings. All Lane's End nominees are automatically nominated to this race. Failure to draw into the race cancels all fees. Closed Wednesday, March 15, 2006 with 6 nominations. Race Summary |
---|
HIGH COTTON ridden a bit into the first turn to gain a slim lead, vied
thereafter while patiently handled, drew clear when asked after six furlongs and
stayed clear while kept to the task. SPECIAL INTEREST lost his footing at the
start, moved out five wide on the first turn when MARK OF SUCCESS drifted out,
was outrun for a half, advanced five wide on the second turn and closed
willingly late. BEAR CHARACTER forwardly placed three wide, moved to a
challenging position between rivals before a half, stayed close up four wide on
the second turn but weakened in the drive. NEW AWAKENING four wide early when
forwardly placed, raced in traffic late on the first turn, stayed within
striking distance thereafter, was in the four path on the second turn and lacked
a late bid. KINGS CHALLENGE outrun early, raced three wide on the second turn
and lodged a mild late bid. WARRIOR WITHIN closest to the pace off the inside,
moved out to the three path for the second turn, held on well to midstretch and
gave way. FABLED well placed from the start, stayed on well to the stretch and
tired. TRIPTANIC well back early, raced in the four path late on the second turn
and could not menace. IN A FLASH (IRE) lost his footing at the start, recovered,
raced close up five wide, stayed in that path on the second turn and faded.
WARWICK WONDER was no threat. MARK OF SUCCESS took up over FIDRYCH's heels on
the first turn, drifted five wide recovering then could not menace. FIDRYCH
close up early four wide, was in traffic late on the first turn then stopped
after a half.
