#8 MAGNIFICENT BLEND (ML=3/1)
#4 SELF INSURED (ML=6/1)
#2 CAPT. SPARROW (ML=7/2)

MAGNIFICENT BLEND - Won his last after shipping in. I like him again. I like this gelding a lot here. He shows a lot of consistency, finishing in the money frequently. This horse could be tough in today's contest, especially since Quinonez rode last time around the track and now should be familiar with this one. This gelding is in superb form right now. Finished first last race out and comes back quickly. SELF INSURED - I really like that last effort on Aug 5th at Del Mar where he ended up third. I think this gelding is ready to run a good one. He's had enough efforts since the layoff and should be fit. CAPT. SPARROW - Mitchell is sharp with any fine animal racing 1st time after a claim. The trainer is very good with those types. This gelding is clearly on the improve with speed ratings of 76, 91, 94 last three out.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 AFLEET DEAL (ML=6/1), #1 U. C. MERCED TWO (ML=6/1), #9 AREUTRUE (ML=8/1),

AFLEET DEAL - Difficult to take this vulnerable equine at these odds after the finish (sixth) in the last race. This mount ran a most unsatisfactory speed figure last time around the track. He shouldn't show signs of improvement and will likely get beat in today's race running that figure. U. C. MERCED TWO - Doubtful that this horse will finish better than he did last time when placing eighth. AREUTRUE - This vulnerable equine ran a mediocre speed rating in the last race. He shouldn't show signs of improvement and will probably lose in today's event running that number.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Hal - MAGNIFICENT BLEND - Last two starts, two claims. This valuable steed deserves your betting attention.

#5 TROPIC STORM (ML=7/2)
#4 AGGIE ENGINEER (ML=4/1)
#6 INFORMED (ML=3/1)

TROPIC STORM - A gelding like this one, almost always on the board, usually makes an excellent trifecta key horse. You always have to be on the prowl for profit making jockey/handler duos; we have one right here. I like to bet on this handicapping angle, a racer coming back off a strong contest within the last month. AGGIE ENGINEER - You have to be keen on that latest race speed rating, 111, which is the best most recent race rating of this bunch. Had a powerful closing move last out, running the last quarter in less than 25 seconds. A similar performance today, and it's straight to the winner's circle. INFORMED - This horse has been trying different distances, but from the looks of things, he ran a nice speed figure last try at this distance.

Vulnerable Contenders: #1A RED DOOR DRIVE (ML=5/2), #1 SPURRIER (ML=5/2), #3 LOW GEAR POWER (ML=5/1),

RED DOOR DRIVE - This horse hasn't been around in either of his last two races. Earned a common speed fig in the last race in the Wickerr on July 28th. Improbable to see an improved performance off of that number. SPURRIER - This horse ran a mediocre speed fig last out. He shouldn't improve and will probably lose in today's event running that figure. LOW GEAR POWER - The speed figure in the last race doesn't fit very well in this affair when I look at the Equibase class figure of today's contest. Mark this horse as a likely underpriced equine.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - TROPIC STORM - Playing the top earnings per start horse is an angle which won't steer you wrong in the long run. I'm betting on this one.

Choice Plays:

#8 DAZZLING DISPLAY (ML=9/5)
#5 ZAZU (ML=6/1)

DAZZLING DISPLAY - Not much speed in this race other than this racer. This filly finished well ahead of the third horse on July 25th. Those horses tend to run well next time out. That 87 fig this filly recorded in her last affair tells me she's a key player this time around. I always like to see a filly getting Lasix for the second time. This one fits the bill. This filly is number one in earnings per start (EPS). Check out this horse in the saddling ring. ZAZU - I like that this first-timer has been working over the Del Mar oval and makes her debut here today. This trainer has a very positive ROI with 1st time starters. Sadler adds Lasix to this one today. I'd look for a significant improvement.

Vulnerable Contenders: #1 TIZ THE ROUTE (ML=4/1), #4 TALES IN EXCESS (ML=5/1), #6 MISS RADIANCE (ML=5/1),

TIZ THE ROUTE - The Brain always cautions me to keep my distance from horses in short distance affairs that haven't finished in the money in sprint races lately. Didn't perform too well last time. Probably won't make an impact in today's event. Pedestrian speed rating in the last race at Del Mar at 6 furlongs. Don't feel this less than sharp equine will improve too much today. TALES IN EXCESS - Just don't figure that she is worth it at the morning line odds. MISS RADIANCE - Doesn't look to have enough good qualities to support the value.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Hal - DAZZLING DISPLAY - Although coming off a finish of second at modest odds in first ever start, this steed should improve and is going to be tough to beat.

#6 DEPUTY MAX (ML=3/1)
#2 SEATTLE RULER (ML=5/1)
#5 SPRING FORTH (ML=5/1)
#1 BEACHROCK (ML=6/1)

DEPUTY MAX - When a horse finishes on the board as often as this colt does, you will usually want to use him in your exotic wagers. Last time out on the grass, this horse was strong. Anything close in this race, and this one should win. This colt's last speed figure is high enough to win here, I'll bet on him right back today. SEATTLE RULER - Comparing how the horses in this field have fared under similar conditions, I see this one has the highest speed rating for the distance/surface. Colt looks like the lone speed here. He may turn the race into a procession. This colt is in good condition. Finished second on August 15th. SPRING FORTH - I like when a thoroughbred wins after shipping in from elsewhere. It shows that they really like the track here. I'll take this colt to win again. Valenzuela rode this horse for the initial time last time around the track and comes right back this time. Have to make this colt a solid contender; he comes off a sharp race on August 21st. BEACHROCK - 'C Nak' and Harty perform well when they unite. It's hard to beat a +224 return on investment for a jock and handler. On Aug 1st this gelding shipped in to win and looks good right back. This thoroughbred has increased his speed ratings from a fig of 73 to 83 to 93 in succession.

Vulnerable Contenders: #7 SEBASTIAN FLYTE (GB) (ML=5/2), #8 VERY FAIR (ML=4/1),

SEBASTIAN FLYTE (GB) - If he goes off anywhere near the morning line of 5/2, I'll have to pass. VERY FAIR - This thoroughbred just hasn't looked fit recently.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Hal - SPRING FORTH - Steady improvement in his speed ratings, 103 last race and 97 two races back. This steed is going to be tough against these thoroughbreds.

#10 CAN'T TOPPER (ML=7/2)
#8 REAL HOUSEWIFE (ML=6/1)
#3 SEEDLESS (ML=6/1)
#2 COSMIC ANGEL (ML=12/1)

CAN'T TOPPER - This filly has been running at higher class levels previously. She did win versus better, a Starter Allowance race though. I believe this one is in the right spot today. The last time she tried this distance she got a fig good enough to win this event. Have to make this filly a solid contender; she comes off a good race on Aug 25th. If this animal repeats any of her last 3 efforts, she'll have a great shot to win in this race. The 90 most recent race rating looks mighty good on paper. REAL HOUSEWIFE - When Rosario and Spawr combine forces on horses the return on investment has been wonderful at +30. This racer wins a lot of money per race around the track. I believe she will add to the lifetime total today. Spawr brings her back again. I advocate you stick with this live filly. SEEDLESS - Based on this filly's recent efforts, she should benefit from this race's shorter distance. Patrick Valenzuela was aboard this filly last time around the track and was impressed enough to take the horse right back. Hofmans had been running this filly at higher levels recently. Did win a Starter Allowance race though, on March 6th. Could do it again here. This filly has been working out well, and the recent bullet work says she's primed for a big race today. COSMIC ANGEL - This speedball is cutting back in distance today. Should help her chances.

Vulnerable Contenders: #7 MOVIE DUTY (ML=3/1), #6 NOTHING TO FEAR (ML=8/1), #5 SCRATCHTHEMOON (ML=8/1),

MOVIE DUTY - The pace scenario just isn't too promising for this early speedball. Many other horses would have to scratch to promote her chances. NOTHING TO FEAR - This filly recorded a speed fig in her last clash which probably isn't good enough in today's event. SCRATCHTHEMOON - Recorded a mediocre rating in the last race in a $25,000 Claiming race on August 7th. Doubtful to see an improved performance off of that number.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - REAL HOUSEWIFE - I love to bet on horses which always finished in the money. Couldn't ask for much more out of this one. Let's bet on her.

#9 MAY DAY ROSE (ML=9/5)
#4 HEY MARIA (ML=5/1)

MAY DAY ROSE - Failed to win as the public choice in her last start. Ran well considering the speed figure notched was good enough to make her one of the contenders in today's race. I'm optimistic this filly will run well today. Last prep was 2nd fastest of the day, which tells me she's sharp right now. Finished second, but easily 2nd over the third horse. Those types usually run well next time out. Last time out on August 22nd was a good tune-up for today. Got pretty good betting action in that one, but finished second. I'd expect a better race in this event. HEY MARIA - Bejarano and Gaines perform well when they team up. Hard to top a winning percentage of 39. Filly has shown some early speed. This shorter trip should be better for her. Expect better today as this filly gets Lasix for the 2nd time.

Vulnerable Contenders: #8 WEEKEND PARTY (ML=3/1), #5 RIVER'S MAMBO (ML=8/1), #6 BORN LUCKY (ML=8/1),

WEEKEND PARTY - M/L odds of 3/1 make this horse a pass by my criteria. RIVER'S MAMBO - Doesn't seem to be worth 8/1 this time around. Pass on her this time. BORN LUCKY - Probably won't make much of an impression today.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - MAY DAY ROSE - I scan the TrackMaster Platinum PPs for this type of horse. Has the top TM Power Rating by at least 5 points.

#2 SALTY FRIES (ML=4/1)
#8 DOWNHILL DIVA (ML=12/1)
#1 DREAMED TO DREAM (ML=3/1)
#9 PULPIT MAGIC (ML=4/1)

SALTY FRIES - Hasn't run at today's distance recently but does have a speed fig garnered last time she tried this distance good enough to win. Just missed hitting the board on Jul 31st at Del Mar. With pretty good odds in this field, she has my interest. Comparing how the horses in this field have fared under similar conditions, I see this animal has the highest speed figure for the dist/surf. I like this filly. Has the highest earnings per start in today's contest. The latest speed rating of 92 is the highest last race speed rating in the group. DOWNHILL DIVA - Blanc and Harrington partnered together are a horseplayer's friend. This filly was impressive in finishing fifth on a slow track on August 21st. A signal that she should do well against these thoroughbreds in her first turf try. DREAMED TO DREAM - I like horses that return to a similar class level after dropping at least five class-rating points like this one did in the last race. I believe she'll be competitive at this class level. This filly has lots of ability on the grass. Could be long gone by the time they hit the top of the lane. I believe the addition of blinks today will help this filly focus her attention on racing. PULPIT MAGIC - This filly has higher odds on the morning line than the other entrant from the stable of Dominguez. Better be wary of this angle. This animal has the class to win the race. A tactical ride by Rosario, and this one could bound home the winner.

Vulnerable Contenders: #4 SKY CHANT (ML=7/2), #6 L'ENCHANTERESSE (IRE) (ML=5/1),

SKY CHANT - This questionable contender ran a substandard speed rating last time out. She shouldn't improve and will probably get beat in today's event running that number. L'ENCHANTERESSE (IRE) - Hard to put any dough on this filly on the win end. Likes to end up on the board though. The speed rating last out doesn't fit very well in this contest when I look at the class figure of today's affair. Mark this mount as a questionable challenger.

#2 WICKEDLY PERFECT (ML=3/1)
#6 SUGARINTHEMORNING (ML=6/1)
#10 A Z WARRIOR (ML=5/1)
#12 IZSHELEGAL (ML=5/1)

WICKEDLY PERFECT - Shipped in on Aug 6th to finish first here. Take right back again. This filly is in good form, having run a nice race on August 6th, finishing first. This filly's last speed rating earned on August 6th is at the top in last race speed ratings. This horse earns a lot of money per race around the track. In the top spot in this contest. SUGARINTHEMORNING - Got an unlucky trip her 1st time out. Hitting the track today, should do better if she stays out of any problems. A thoroughbred coming back this quickly after a sharp outing is a good omen. 'P Val' was aboard this filly in the last race and was impressed enough to take the horse right back. This jockey/conditioner duo has been producing a very lucrative ROI, right at +300. Lasix can take some getting used to, especially for a filly. They usually hit stride the 2nd time using it, like we have with this horse. A repeat of that most recent race on August 14th where she notched a speed fig of 97 looks high enough to score in this event. A Z WARRIOR - Have to give this filly a good shot. Ran a solid effort last time around the track within the last 30 days. IZSHELEGAL - This filly is in first-rate condition right now. Ran third last time out and comes back rapidly.

Vulnerable Contenders: #7 AVID (ML=7/2), #3 TELL A KELLY (ML=5/1),

AVID - Recorded a somewhat easily forgotten speed figure in the last race in a Maiden Special race on Aug 1st. Not probable to see an improved performance off of that number. TELL A KELLY - Improbable that the speed rating she garnered on Aug 15th will hold up in this affair.

#1 GALLATIN'S RUN (ML=3/1)
#4 STREAKIN' MOHICAN (ML=8/1)
#7 INDIAN FIREWATER (ML=6/1)
#6 NEXTDOORNEIGHBOR (ML=7/2)

DETAILS R SKETCHY - There's something to be said for a change of surface. Last race this animal didn't like the terrain, but if you look two back on the equitrack at Hollywood Park, there was a great effort. I look for that again today. I like to invest in this handicapping theory, a campaigner coming back off a sharp contest within the last month. Finished outside the top 3 last out at Del Mar, but was within 5 lengths of the winner. Opening at 5/1 makes me think he's got a chance. GALLATIN'S RUN - I like to bet on this handicapping theory, a thoroughbred coming back off a strong race within the last month. Shipped in on August 11th to win here. Take right back again. This gelding's last speed rating is high enough to score here, I'll play him back again in today's event. This gelding should be in tip-top shape, this far into his form cycle. STREAKIN' MOHICAN - This gelding is in good condition. Ran second on August 12th. INDIAN FIREWATER - I like a thoroughbred that manages to be there at the wire as often as this colt. Almost always in the money so don't leave him out of your exotic bets. Based on this colt's recent efforts, he should profit from this race's shorter trip. NEXTDOORNEIGHBOR - The jock/trainer tandem of Bejarano and Machowsky has a strong return on investment together. I have to figure that this race's shorter distance should help this colt. You have to consider the solid works of late.

Vulnerable Contenders: #8 USURP (ML=5/1), #9 ITALIAN RULES (ML=8/1),

USURP - Going to have a difficult go of it with all the front-runners in this event. Don't feel this entrant will make a winning move in today's race. That last speed figure was pedestrian when compared with today's Equibase class figure. ITALIAN RULES - Last performed on August 15th at Del Mar, finishing third. Unlikely to advance off of that effort in today's race. This horse notched a speed figure in his last event which likely isn't good enough in today's event.

#4 MAGIC LANTERN (GB) (ML=3/1)
#8 SNOVEMBER (ML=5/2)
#1 PRINCESS BEAU K (ML=5/1)

MAGIC LANTERN (GB) - Filly got a healthy speed figure last time she tried this distance. That number would be good enough to win today. My comrades and I have made cash playing thoroughbreds with this type of pace. Follow my advice and do the same. Have to make this filly a win candidate; she comes off a good contest on August 4th. SNOVEMBER - The ROI when Bejarano and Puype team up is terrific. Have to give this filly a good chance. Ran a solid race in the last race within the last 30 days. PRINCESS BEAU K - I really like that most recent outing on August 6th at Del Mar where she finished second. Rosario was aboard this filly last out and was impressed enough to take the horse right back. I think this filly is ready to run a good one. She's had enough races since the layoff and should be fit.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 DANCINCONESTRELLAS (ML=5/1), #3 FORTYFIVEWITHRUBY (ML=8/1), #7 HARMONY'S HOPE (ML=8/1),

DANCINCONESTRELLAS - A bit of a lackluster outing when this filly finished fifth. FORTYFIVEWITHRUBY - In any race of 7 furlongs, I like to bet on a contender that has been looking good in sprint races recently. 8/1 odds isn't enough for this horse when looking at the most recent showings. Garnered a run-of-the-mill speed figure last time out in a $25,000 Maiden Claiming race on August 20th. Not likely to see an improved performance off of that figure. HARMONY'S HOPE - Hard to put any dough on this filly on the top end. Likes to land in the top three though. Finished second in her most recent race with a mediocre speed rating. When I look at today's class rating, it would take an improved performance to win after that in this bunch.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: The Brain - MAGIC LANTERN (GB) - Racing pattern would suggest this mount is fit and ready for today's race. I'd calculate a good performance.

#5 POWERS LILSIS (ML=3/1)
#2 CATO MAJOR (ML=5/1)

FRISCO FOX - This jock and trainer have a high winning pct together. Sophisticated bettors will tell you that this horse has strong pace. POWERS LILSIS - The rider/handler twosome of Martinez and Martin has a strong return on investment together. Mare won on Apr 17th at this class and distance. The June 30th race at Pleasanton was at a class level of (97). Dropping to a lower level a significant amount, so she should be in a good place. CATO MAJOR - Atop this horse on August 11th and Hernandez is back again in the irons this race. This mare is in fine form. Finished first on Aug 11th. This mare is certainly on the improve with speed figures of 75, 77, 79 last 3 out.

Vulnerable Contenders: #4 FOXY BAILEY (ML=9/5), #1 SPARKS FLYING (ML=8/1),

FOXY BAILEY - Difficult to keep stabbing at this sort of 'bridesmaid' horse. SPARKS FLYING - Today's race is 6 furlongs. Hasn't hit the board in a sprint affair in the last 60 days. Not the greatest of signs.

#6 STORMY STORYTELLER (ML=8/5)
#1 TURBULENT CREEK (ML=6/1)

BOURNE TO ROMP - With 'blinkers-on' this colt should be very competitive. STORMY STORYTELLER - This colt likes to be near the lead. Today's event is a shorter distance and should aid his chances to win. This jock/trainer duo has been producing a high win percentage, right around 39. Sherman drops this one in today for only his second race. Should do better than last out. TURBULENT CREEK - This animal could be tough this time, especially since Martinez rode in the last race and now should be plenty familiar with this one. Strong return on investment for this jockey and conditioner twosome. Finished out of the money last out at Santa Rosa, but was within 5 lengths of the winner. Opening at 6/1 makes me think he's got a chance.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 AWESOME DANCE (ML=2/1), #3 I'M A CLASSY GUY (ML=5/1), #4 R SEEKER (ML=8/1),

AWESOME DANCE - Finished second in his most recent race with a mediocre rating. When I look at today's Equibase class figure, it would take an improved performance to score after that in this field. I'M A CLASSY GUY - Hasn't finished in the money in any sprint contests of late. Improbable to see him doing it this time out either. Don't feel this entrant will do much running in today's race. That last fig was pedestrian when compared with today's Equibase class figure. R SEEKER - I predict a letdown for this equine in this event.

#9 FANCY SUMMER (ML=5/1)
#7 BELLA CASTAGNA (ML=5/2)
#6 OUR STARDUST (ML=2/1)
#1 SERBIANA (ML=8/1)

FANCY SUMMER - Traditional angle - 3rd or 4th start after a layoff generally leads to a big effort. This horse is live today. BELLA CASTAGNA - Faced tougher last time out at Santa Rosa. Based on Equibase class ratings, this is a weaker group, so I will put this horse on my list of probable winners in this race. I think Golden Gate players know a good thing when they see the jock/conditioner tandem of Baze and Sherman. Their win percentage together has been great. This mare is in superb condition right now. Ran second in the last race and comes back soon. OUR STARDUST - That recent bullet 35.2 work shows that this filly is ready for a top race today. This filly's last figure is strong enough to win here, I'll wager on her back again this time around. SERBIANA - Looking at today's class figure, this horse is meeting an easier bunch than last out at Santa Rosa. I think that a sprinter coming off a layoff will usually run her best in the 3rd or 4th start back.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 I CAN YODEL TOO (ML=4/1),

I CAN YODEL TOO - Finished first in her most recent performance with a run-of-the-mill speed figure. When I look at today's Equibase class figure, it would take an improved performance to win after that in this bunch.

#4 SILENTCRYSTALWATER (ML=3/1)
#7 MISS FOREST (ML=9/2)
#9 MY INDY KITTY (ML=20/1)

SILENTCRYSTALWATER - This horse has recorded the best recent turf Equibase speed figure at the dist/surf. Finished 2nd, but easily in the place spot over the third horse. Those types usually run well next time out. With a big class drop in class rating points from her Aug 14th race at Santa Rosa. Based on that element, I will give this horse the edge. Last race at Santa Rosa, she broke from the far outside. I don't need an advanced degree like The Brain to tell me her inside post position today should help. This horse tops my list of contenders. 3 solid efforts leading into this event can prove I'm right. This filly is in nice form, having run a nice race on Aug 14th, finishing second. MISS FOREST - Faced tougher in the last race at Santa Rosa. Based on class ratings, this is a weaker bunch, so I will put this one on my list of contenders. This filly has impressed last two times out posting great speed figs. With a repeat performance, she'll probably win this race. I like this filly. Has the topmost earnings per race entered in here today. This filly's last speed rating is good enough to win here, I'll bet on her right back this time around. MY INDY KITTY - Has discovered a good spot this time.

Vulnerable Contenders: #10 SHY CONTESSA (ML=7/2), #6 TRAIL BEYOND (ML=5/1), #12 ITSALITTLEBITFUNNY (ML=8/1),

SHY CONTESSA - Hard to keep stabbing at this sort of 'hanger' horse. A pattern of decreasing speed figures 68/63/48 for this pony. This animal doesn't win here at Golden Gate. She needs a different type of track configuration to show her best. TRAIL BEYOND - Awfully hard to play this horse when she hasn't been showing any fighting spirit of late. ITSALITTLEBITFUNNY - Awfully hard to bet on this less than sharp equine when she hasn't been showing any signs of readiness of late.

#2 DOUBLOON CITY (ML=4/5)
#1 I SWEAR (ML=6/1)
#5 KEEPSAKE COPY (ML=20/1)

DOUBLOON CITY - Mare looks like the lone speed here. She may turn the race into a procession. This horse likes to win at multiple tracks. The switch in venue today may be a wake up call. I like to play this angle, a horse coming back off a sharp effort within the last 30 days. This horse loves the track here at Golden Gate. I SWEAR - This racer coming off a nice effort in the last 30 days is a win candidate in my opinion. Couton's agent must like anytime Pederson gives them a mount; win percentage together is outstanding. Just view her most recent speed fig, 84. That one looks good in this bunch. Last two speed figures (84, 84) were solid. Anything close to that in this event and this one could be heading straight to the winner's circle. KEEPSAKE COPY - When Hernandez and Moger team up on horses the ROI has been wonderful at +66. Stretching a thoroughbred out to a route after two sprints is a classic training maneuver. Finished outside the top 3 last out at Santa Rosa, but was within five lengths of the winner. Opening at 20/1 makes me think she's got a chance.

Vulnerable Contenders: #9 MAJALY (ML=5/1), #10 TRUFFLE N PARADISE (ML=8/1),

MAJALY - Difficult to wager on any horse to turn things around if there is no large gain to taking the chance. TRUFFLE N PARADISE - This mare is always in the money, but just doesn't finish first. Difficult to wager on her on the top end.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - I SWEAR - This is a great longshot angle. Play the top-rated TrackMaster power-rated horse if she has a morning line of at least 5-1.

#4 HOT CHACO (ML=2/1)
#2 OUR NAUTIQUE (NZ) (ML=9/2)
#10 MCMURTRY (ML=12/1)

HOT CHACO - You have to consider the solid works of late. I took a look at this gelding's finishes. He's almost always on the board. The outside post position didn't help this horse's chances in the last race at Santa Rosa. Today's inside draw should be just fine. He has the highest earnings per race entered. Give the once over to this horse. OUR NAUTIQUE (NZ) - I like to wager on this angle, a horse coming back off a sharp contest within the last month. Mawing is up for another race today after sitting atop this animal for the first time on August 11th and ought to know the ropes to this one a little better. Just check out his most recent figure, 109. That one fits well in this bunch. MCMURTRY - All systems look good for this gelding. Last workout, 2nd fastest of the day, shows he's fit and ready. Good return on investment for this jockey and trainer twosome. In my opinion, you need 'class' to be successful on the grass. This one has the highest average class rating in the bunch.

Vulnerable Contenders: #7 HIGHWAY BANDIT (ML=7/2), #3 SEE ZO GO (ML=8/1), #5 NINER GENIUS (ML=8/1),

HIGHWAY BANDIT - I'm foreseeing a lackluster go out of him this time out. SEE ZO GO - This gelding recorded a speed figure in his last race which likely isn't good enough in today's event. NINER GENIUS - This gelding is always around, but just doesn't finish on top. Hard to play him on the win end. Earned a disappointing speed figure last out in a $25,000 Optional Claiming race on August 15th. Not probable to see an improved performance off of that number.

Have to go with #2 OUR NAUTIQUE (NZ) on the win end if we get at least 9/2 odds

#4 DO WHAT U DARE (ML=7/2)
#10 OONGA BOONGA (ML=9/2)
#8 JUSTOURIMAGINATION (ML=8/1)
#7 TOP OF THE LIST (ML=12/1)

DO WHAT U DARE - When a trainer works a campaigner at a distance equal to or longer than today's race, the animal should be fit. Looking at today's class rating, this racer is encountering an easier group than in the last race at Santa Anita. A repeat of that latest effort on December 27th where he notched a fig of 91 looks good enough to win in this event. Came home fast in the last race at Santa Anita. That type of move bodes well for his chances in this field. OONGA BOONGA - I like to wager on this handicapping theory, a campaigner coming back off a nice effort within the last month. Ran last race out against better company at Santa Rosa. The move to a lower level should suit him well. He has the highest earnings per race entered. Check out this animal. JUSTOURIMAGINATION - This gelding was sharp enough to post a 'top two' workout recently. I think he's ready for today's event. TOP OF THE LIST - As the only front-runner in the race, I expect this gelding to be long gone. Hernandez and Moger partnered with one another are a horseplayer's friend. PP lines show this horse with three improving speed ratings. Hernandez should be on a live one in this race. Coming off a fifth place finish at Oak Tree at Santa Anita, some may pass on this horse. I'm not. He just missed hitting the show spot, and has respectable morning odds today.

Vulnerable Contenders: #9 CHECKINUPONYOU (ML=5/2), #2 INDIAN BOBBY (ML=8/1), #5 DA JERSEY EXPRESS (ML=8/1),

CHECKINUPONYOU - Not the best 'situation' in this event. INDIAN BOBBY - I'm foretelling a less than stellar try out of him in today's event. DA JERSEY EXPRESS - Doesn't look to be worth 8/1 this time out. Pass on him this time.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: The Turf Man - DO WHAT U DARE - This colt is moving from the grass to the dirt. Looking for his first win, this is a positive move.

#2 CLASSICAL BARTOK (ML=7/2)
#6 MEMONNIER (ML=5/2)
#1 SUMMER SUNSHINE (ML=15/1)
#11 FUNI ACT (ML=8/1)

BUD I CRUSHED IT - Have to make this gelding a win candidate; he comes off a solid effort on August 4th. I like the way this gelding's finish positions have gotten better with each start recently. A sign of a campaigner coming into top form. Three consecutive improved speed ratings (38-66-87) make this horse a dominant contender. CLASSICAL BARTOK - Alvarado and Buckridge partnered up are a railbird's friend. Dropping down in Equibase class figure points from his Aug 15th race at Santa Rosa. Based on that key piece of info, I will give this thoroughbred the edge. MEMONNIER - This trainer brings horses to the turf conditioned properly and ready to go, winning over 20 percent of the time under similar conditions. SUMMER SUNSHINE - I'm expecting this fine animal to run a big one today. FUNI ACT - This gelding is a gem of consistency, almost always on the board. Finished fifth at Santa Rosa last out. Was close at the end and at odds of 8/1 today, he looks like a possible contender.

Vulnerable Contenders: #5 BLAST'EM (ML=5/1), #9 THE TOUR DIRECTOR (ML=8/1), #7 SUN SEEKER (ML=8/1),

BLAST'EM - Difficult to put any cash on this gelding on the front end. Likes to finish in the money though. THE TOUR DIRECTOR - I'm prognosticating a lackluster go of it out of him this time around. SUN SEEKER - 8/1 odds isn't enough for this participant when scrutinizing the most recent showings.

#9 OESTE DOS (ML=8/1)

PRINCE NOVETTI - Carrying 9 pounds less this race. Trainer has him in a good spot. OESTE DOS - Nice return on investment for this jock and handler twosome. Took a class drop last time around the track at Santa Rosa. Josephson keeps him at the same level in today's race. I think that's a good move. WANT THE FACTS - Don't often see a profitable ROI like +38. This rider/trainer pair has done well together over the last twelve months. This thoroughbred picks up a lot of cash per race. I believe he can add to that total right here in this race.

Vulnerable Contenders: #8 VEZUVIY (ML=5/2), #7 RETROS LAST FLIGHT (ML=3/1),

VEZUVIY - Don't believe this horse is worth 5/2 in this affair. RETROS LAST FLIGHT - This gelding will likely bounce, and not come anywhere near the last speed rating of 77.

#10 PRINCE NOVETTI is going to be the play if we are getting 4/1 or better
