Louisiana Derby (G2) winner PYRO (Pulpit) breezed four furlongs in :50 3/5 early Monday morning at Keeneland in his final major workout prior to Saturday's $750,000 Blue Grass S. (G1). The dark bay colt was clocked in :23 4/5 for his final quarter-mile under regular exercise rider Dominic Terry.

Trained by Steve Asmussen, Pyro has worked three times at Keeneland since arriving from New Orleans following his three-length victory in the March 8 Louisiana Derby. His first breeze was a five-furlong move in 1:02 2/5 on March 24, followed by a six-furlong work in company in 1:14 3/5 on March 31.

"It was smooth, a typical Asmussen blowout," said Scott Blasi, assistant to Asmussen.

Pyro, who schooled in the paddock between races on Saturday, will be ridden by Shaun Bridgmohan in the Blue Grass.

MEDJOOL (Monarchos) worked five furlongs in 1:02 1/5 under jockey Michael Baze on Monday at Santa Anita in preparation for an expected start in the nine-furlong Blue Grass. The David Hofmans trainee most recently finished third in the Lane's End S. (G2) at Turfway Park after breaking his maiden going two turns at Santa Anita.

"It was a nice work," Hofmans said. "He will ship there on Wednesday."

Over a fast track at Oaklawn, Grade 3 winner Z FORTUNE (Siphon [Brz]), preparing for a start in Saturday's Arkansas Derby (G2), was clocked in :50 1/5 for a half-mile.
