Itsmyluckyday, Speak Logistics work at Calder Itsmyluckyday breezed an easy mile in 1:46 flat Saturday morning at Calder for trainer Eddie Plesa Jr. as he continues preparation for a start next as one of the favorites in the Grade 1 Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park on March 30. "He went perfect," said Plesa, who also had several other stable starts on the work tab at Calder Saturday morning. "It (mile work) lets him stretch his legs and he gets a little more out of going longer. He's been right on schedule since the Holy Bull." A son of Lawyer Ron purchased for $110,000 at the OBS March two-year-old sale, Itsmyluckyday won the Grade 3 Holy Bull last on January 26 by two lengths over previously undefeated 2012 juvenile champion Shanghai Bobby, who is training up to a rematch in the Florida Derby for trainer Todd Pletcher at Palm Meadows. Plesa also has Speak Logistics as a potential Kentucky Derby prospect and he breezed a half-mile in :49 2/5 Saturday morning in preparation for his next start. "He also finished really well," Plesa said. "We're going to take him to New York and give him a chance in the (Grade 1) Wood Memorial." Speak Logistics is a son of High Cotton purchased for $62,000 at the OBS April two-year-old sale and finished third last out in the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth Stakes here on February 23, beaten seven lengths by Orb following a troubled fourth-place effort in the Grade 3 Sam F. Davis at Tampa Bay Downs on February 2 in his three-year-old debut. The $1 million Wood Memorial will be run on April 6 at Aqueduct. Yet another accomplished three-year-old trained by Plesa posting a workout Saturday morning was Brave Dave, who breezed an easy three furlongs in :38 1/5, his first recorded workout since a disappointing sixth-place finish behind Merit Man in the $100,000 Spectacular Bid at six furlongs on New Year's Day. "He was simply tired after that race," Plesa said. "He had been running steadily up to that point and just needed a break, but it's time to start back with him now." A son of Put It Back, Brave Dave had won four of six previous starts with one second before the Spectacular Bid. Three of his victories came in stakes events beginning with the Grade 3 Sapling Stakes last summer at Monmouth Park. Bet Horseracing Free Online at TwinSpires.com
