'Nobiz' works with Derby hero Funny Cide

Trainer Barclay Tagg set two goals for NOBIZ LIKE SHOBIZ (Albert the Great) in his Tuesday workout at Gulfstream Park. He wanted the colt to go around both turns and not lug in like he did when finishing third as the favorite in the March 3 Fountain of Youth S. (G2). Nobiz Like Shobiz worked in company with 2003 Kentucky Derby (G1) and Preakness S. (G1) winner FUNNY CIDE (Distorted Humor), and they both went five furlongs in a bullet :59 4/5.

"I wanted him to work on both turns, so we went from the half-mile pole to the mile pole," Tagg said. "I wanted to work him in company and there aren't many I could send with him other than Funny Cide. I knew 'Funny' would get a little tired at the end and 'Nobiz' went past him and he didn't go over on him. He doesn't lug in in the mornings. I don't know why he's done it in his races."

Nobiz Like Shobiz, who won the Holy Bull S. (G3) in his seasonal debut, is preparing for the $750,000 Wood Memorial  (G1) on April 7 at Aqueduct. Tagg finished second in the 2003 Wood Memorial with Funny Cide, who finished just a half-length behind Empire Maker.
