 Tom C Cauwels
  CA
$15,000 Breeders' Cup Trifecta & Superfecta
 Occupation: Retired Sales
 Other Accomplishments:
1)In the 2001 Breeders' Cup Sprint, I had the Tri and Super (Squirtle Squirt over Xtra Heat over Caller One over Swept Overboard) and won over $15,000.
2. I participated in the inaugural NHC tournament. I also have won a couple satellite tournaments. Winning trips to Cal Cup Day at Santa Anita and Del Mar.
Started Playing: I first started going to the races with my father when I was just a tyke. We went on Sundays for the Pick 6 (then called the 5 and 10) and to Santa Anita and Hollywood to see Silky Sullivan run, my dad's favorite equine. Serious handicapping started in 1981 at Golden Gates Field.
Handicapping Mentor(s): A really good friend showed me the ropes of reading a race form. However, while attending satellite facilities in Fresno, I struck up a friendship with a person that seemed to win a lot and he shared his skills with me, some of which I still use today. His name was Walter R.
Handicapping Style: Class and improving horses.
