NEW Past Performance Features!
With the latest upgrade of PP Generator software to version 1.94, all of our Past Performances, including the PDF files, now offer some important enhancements. One of the most popular new features will be the Lifetime Best Speed Ratings for each of the following situations: fast track, turf, "off" track, and today's distance. Now with one quick glance, handicappers can see what the horse has done on his best day under today's circumstances. You'll find this an invaluable new tool for handicapping the races! Other changes include the current year stud fee for the sire, an important factor when playing maiden races. A welcome addition to the equipment section of the past performances is an "r" indicating a horse has run with bar shoes on, a red flag that the horse has soundness problems. In the past horseplayers did not know what the range of claiming prices were for a horse's past race(s). Now, our PP's list the claiming prices for both the race and the horse, e.g. \$50,000 claimer but entered for \$40,000. Check out an example of the new enhancements. Keep in mind that if you are currently running our PDF files through Adobe Acrobat reader, there is nothing you have to do. The PP's include the new changes. However, if you run our Past Performances through PP Generator software, you need to upgrade to version 1.94.

Y2K - What Does It Mean to You? (Part One)Unless you have been completely engrossed in handicapping races with your Ultimate Past Performances for the past year, you probably have heard about the "Millennium Bug," or the Year 2000 (Y2K) problem. This important issue may well impact you , especially if your personal computer was manufactured prior to mid - 1997. Because we rely on your business, we want to help you to be Y2K - compliant. We don't want you experiencing any problems when handicapping the New Year's race cards, or when downloading important pedigree information. What is the Y2K problem? In the early days of computers, when memory space was very expensive, only two digits were used to represent years - "66", "67", "68", etc. Deleting the number "19" saved a lot of memory space, thus saving a lot of money for companies. Few, if any, programmers had the foresight to recognize the impact of the year 2000. Because of this, on December 31, 1999, at midnight, computer dates will roll over to "00". Older computers may interpret this number to represent the year 1900, calculate erroneous information, or even shut down completely. What does this issue mean to you? - The Y2K problem affects all aspects of information technology, including personal computers. Your operating system, any custom built applications, commercial software, and all other related programs may be affected . This includes your spreadsheets, word processing programs, handicapping programs and databases. File dates will be wrong, databases can be corrupted, fax and e-mail dates could be incorrect, and some programs may not work. Additionally, because the year 2000 is a leap year, and 1900 was not, there won't be 29 days in February for you, only 28. Here at Bloodstock Research, we have been testing all of our reports and programs for compliance over the past 18 months. It is indeed a massive, and on going task. We want to make sure our customers experience no interruptions nor receive inaccurate information when using our products and services. Be aware, and be prepared, for the "millennium bug." Aside from taking a few precautions, and perhaps cashing any winning mutuel tickets you may have hidden away, the year 2000 should pose no problems for your horserace handicapping into the 21st Century. Next Month : What You Can Do to be Y2K Compliant
