Every handicapper has a particular handicapping forte. Some people fare better finding
winners in money allowance contests, while others do better with bottom level claimers.
Pedigree experts, or those armed with valuable pedigree statistics, look for well bred
first-time starters or lean toward grass races to spot a runner with turf potential going
to the post at overlay odds. Some handicappers win more on graded stakes while others seem
to succeed with cheaper horses.
How do you discover your forte? Documentation is the answer. Astute gamblers keep a
history of their wagers and, over a period of time, can identify what type of bets for
certain types of races at particular race tracks result in flat-bet profits. Diligent
record keeping is a painful process, but it's not nearly as excruciating as burning
money, and with the results you can develop a plan. You'll know on what types of
races you tend to make money, and more importantly when you tend to lose money.
Long-term profits are reaped by betting on the races that meet certain criteria
uncovered by tracking your wagers through documentation.
In the past finding the betting scenarios that fit best with your handicapping abilities
was such a cumbersome and expensive process, that having the discipline to stick with the plan
proved difficult, if not impossible. Often boredom set in waiting for "the race" while resources
were whittled away with impulse bets. And with nearly 200 or more events to choose from on an average
race day, the probability of missing a race where money can be made was high.
Brisnet.com offers a tool that solves this dilemma and enables you to bet to your strengths.
CUSTOM CARD allows you to set specific criteria for the types of races you want to handicap at
the tracks you want to play. The user-friendly search engine finds the types of races you dictate,
including the types of wagers you like to play, and produces a past performance report for just
those races. In essence, you create your own race card. The great news is that in February members
can download up to 3 Racedates of PDF PPs for FREE using Custom Card!
CUSTOM CARD provides a missing piece to the handicapping puzzle and is an instrumental addition to the
arsenal for the spot bettor. With just a few clicks on the mouse, the handicapper who only shows profits
from starter allowance events at minor tracks can download information on all the races that meet those
conditions each day.
Using Custom Card
The Past Performances and FREE Flash Results for each race card can be easily generated by the
CUSTOM CARD program. Once a report is selected, a file name referencing the file type and date appears
in a box, and is stored for later use under the "Prior File" category.
Date selection is next, with initial reports for the tracks you play available 36 hours prior to
the first post. Information for all tracks is not available at the same time, so if you are
handicapping a specific race type for multiple tracks, an opportunity could be missed if you
download the reports too early (more than 48 hours out). It's a good idea to access the main
product page (e.g. Ultimate PPs) to make sure all the dates you need are available.
Names of each track with report availability are listed in the box. A single track or "All" tracks
can be chosen, or by holding the control key down on your keyboard, multiple tracks can be selected.
If time restraints limit when you can wager, or if you prefer to bet only when the moons are in a
certain alignment, the "Post Time" filtering option is useful. Choose the desired time frame for
races to be run and only those races set to go off during that time will be generated.
The next setting is for sprint and route specialists, with designations available for specific
distance parameters ranging from two furlongs to three miles.
For most races the number of runners has a direct correlation on the value of a wager, so if you want
to eliminate contests with compact fields you can do so with CUSTOM CARD. Input the minimum and
maximum numbers and the program will find all those races within the field size range. Selecting
race types are next with multiple choices that cover virtually every race condition.
A determination of minimum and maximum purse values is beneficial for those looking to avoid the
sharpies by playing low priced events, or for those who shy away from such contests in favor of
the high dollar affairs. If the selected race type is a claiming affair, an option box may be
checked to substitute the claiming price instead of the purse value as the search criteria.
Age and Sex restrictions can be set, with the capability provided to choose races for specific
divisions and genders. The wager type filter is potentially valuable as players can download
those races that offer a specific type of wager. Included exotics are exactas, quinellas,
trifectas, superfectas and twin trifectas.
Once all the desired settings are selected (don't forget to "Save" the "Profile" if you are
going to use the same setting frequently) click on the "Search for Races" button and the process
will begin. When the data is collected, a new page appears with a listing of all races found based
on the chosen parameters. Highlight a specific race and the full conditions for the selected event
is displayed, along with all available wagering opportunities. You can then add the selected race
to the file or, with one click, add the entire batch of races that were found based on your selected
criteria.
Now you can generate the reports, handicap the races and make some money. Choose whether you want
the races to be displayed in post time order or be organized by track, then click on "Create Card."
From here you will be taken to a screen where you can either view the file or download it to your PC
for saving. After viewing the file, click on the Print button and soon you will have your own race card
in your hands, customized specifically to meet your wagering strengths and designed to capitalize on
your handicapping forte.
Summary
CUSTOM CARD solves major issues for those who have isolated specific types of races that can result in
positive ROIs. You know your strengths and have the information; it's up to you to exhibit the discipline
to bet only those races you have selected. Follow the plan and make money.
