FIRSTER REPORT-each day we will take a closer look at all the first time starters on the card.
Race 1: ROSCOEWRANGLE-by Jerimi Johnson, a son of Barachois who was stakes placed as a 2YO and sires 7% first out winners according to BRIS. Out of Navonod Miss, a daughter of George Navonod who won 2 races in 12 starts and is a half to Thats Gone who won a stake at 3. Navonod Miss has produced 2 stakes placed horses including Noblazeatall who won his career debut and was second in a stake at Delta Downs at 2. Cost \$2,200 last year. Todd Meachum has not won with a first time starter in 11 attempts according to BRIS.
Race 6: MONDAMIN-by Manila, a son of Lyphard who won the Breeders' Cup Turf going a mile and a half and over \$2.62 million. Manila sires only 7% first out winners according to BRIS. Out of Splice, a daugher of Nodouble who won 3 races and over \$83,000 in 29 starts but did not win at two and did not win sprinting. Splice has produced Double Affair who won the Mississippi Futurity as a 2YO. Tom Amoss is one of the best first out trainers in America winning 29% with his first time starters according to BRIS.
Race 6: CHILAGA-by Boyish Charm, a son of Roberto who was stakes placed as a 5YO going long and is a half brother to multiple graded stakes winner Lay Down. Boyish Charm sires 8% first out winners according to BRIS. Out of Mine Alone, a daughter of Exclusive Native who was unraced but is a 1/2 sister to three horses who were stakes placed as 2YO's. Mine Alone has produced a first out winner by Boyish Charm. Cost \$4,300 this year. David Guillot has not won with a first time starter in only one attempt according to BRIS.
Race 6: SHEILA'S BOMBAY-by Ogygian, a son of Damascus who won his career debut as well as three grade 1 stakes races in New York and once ran seven furlongs in 1:20 2/5 at Belmont. Ogygian sires 14% first out winners according to BRIS. Out of Wise and Happy, a daughter of Exuberant who won her career debut as a 2YO and was stakes placed at four. Wise and Happy has produced five winners from five starters including three who have won as 2YO's. Cost \$10,000 two years ago as a weanling. Britt McGehee wins 6% with his first time starters according to BRIS.
Race 6: MAJESTY'S STORM-by His Majesty, a son of Ribot who won the Everglades as a 3YO and is a full brother to the great Graustark. His Majesty sires 8% first out winners according to BRIS. Out of Brainstrom Dr., a daughter of Dr. Blum who was stakes placed as a 4YO and has produced Clever Pilot who won a stake at two and was second in the grade 1 Oak Leaf. Cost \$14,000 last year as a yearling. Michael Dickinson only wins 4% with his first time starters according to BRIS.
Race 6: MILLION AIR-by Rahy, a son of Blushing Groom who won a stake in England at two then came to America and won a stake at four and is a half to the great Singspeil. Rahy sires 8% first out winners according to BRIS. Out of Alliage, a daughter of Alleged who won twice from four starts and is a half to Ninja Dancer who won a stake at two. This is her first foal to race. Only cost \$20,000 as yearling which is below Rahy's stud fee of \$30,000. Corale Richards has not won with a first time starter in 18 starts according to BRIS.
Race 6: GENE'S GOLD-by Kan D'oro, a son of Mr. Prospector who won 3 races from 13 starts and \$56,000 and is a half to Kandaly who won the Louisiana Derby here. This is Kan D'oro's first foal to race. First foal out of Happy Op, a daughter of State Dinner who was unraced. Firal Ryder wins 14% with his first time starters according to BRIS.
Race 6: FIRE UP-by Wolf, a son of Domineau who was a grade 1 stakes winner in Chile who shipped to California and was third in the grade 2 Citation Handicap. This is his first foal to race. Out of Fire Break, a daughter of Fluorescent Light who won five races from 31 starts and over \$118,000 and is a half to two 2YO stakes winners and two 2YO stakes placed runners. Has produced one winner from one foal to race. Neil Howard wins 17% with his first time starters according to BRIS.

Curt Bourque and Marlon St Julien both won six races to take the
lead among the jockeys. Bourque won two of his races for Doris
Hebert and none of his winners were favorites while St Julien
won for six different trainers and four of his winners were
favorites.
Frank Lovato won five races with two coming for Brad Cathey.
Carlos Gonzalez and Jerry Melancon both won four races.
Gonzalez won two for Mario Convento who is filling in for the
suspended Bobby Barnett. Three of Melancon's winners came for
Don Cormier Sr.
Don Cormier Sr. won four races to take the lead among trainers.
None were favorites and three were double digit winners.
Brad Cathey and Louie Roussel won three races each. All three
of Cathey's winners went off between 3-1 and 7-2 while Roussel
had an odds-on winner who was a first time starter and two 9-2
shots.
Tom Amoss, Jerry Bourque, Sam Breaux, Doris Hebert and Jeff
Trosclair all won two races each.

AQUEDUCT INNER TRACK REPORT FOR THE WEEK OF DECEMBER 3 -
DECEMBER 7, 1997
12/03-Rail: Inside-1; Sprints: Speed-1; Routes: Tactical
Speed-1; As expected, the inside paths were the place to be on
opening day. Speed was important in both sprint and route
events, but more so going short. In the routes, off the pace
horses seemed to have a chance due to the cuppy, tiring nature
of the track surface.
12/04-Rail: Inside 3 paths; Sprints and Routes: Tactical
Speed-1; The inner track was very similar today as it had been
the day before, with the notation that as long as you were
within the first three running lanes you were equally able to
win. Wire to wire speed seemed a bit less necessary than
Wednesday.
12/05-Rail: Inside 3 paths; Sprints and Routes: Tactical
Speed-1; Friday was a carbon copy of Thursday.
12/06-Rail: Inside-2; Sprints and Routes: Speed-3+; Normally, my
bias scale runs from 1 to 3, with 1 being a mild bias and 3
being a severe bias. Saturday's inner track surface was one of
the most biased New York tracks in months, if not years. Three
bombers went gate to wire on the fence, upsetting logical horses
like Capote Belle. I did not make the rail a "3" because one or
two horses were able to tip off the rail and close ground in the
two or three path. But be assured that any horse that raced any
distance off the rail was severely compromised. Move up any
animal trying to close, or stalking and/or closing in the 4 path
or wider. Sincerely, a bias dominated racing card.
12/07-Rail: Inside 3 paths; Sprints and Routes: Tactical
Speed-1; Overnight the inner track returned to the way it had
played earlier in the week. Absolutely nothing like Saturday.
THE WIZARD'S WEEKLY OBSERVATIONS:
CHASIN WIMMIN (03DEC-5): sharp improvement chasing the pace
after a tardy start. Bred to be a good one.
TRACK CITY LAD (03DEC-5): overcame a stumbing start to prevail
in the faster paced of two maiden divisions.
BERMUDA CEDAR (04DEC-9): suffered a brutally impossible trip.
Hit the rail on the first turn, checked several lengths on the
backstretch, angled out wide, fanned wider, still didn't quit.
A truly amazing trip.
DIPSTICK (04DEC-9): shuffled back twice in mid-race. Got bumped
at the eighth pole.
SUPERSATURN (05DEC-5): victimized by an impossible post. This
was the best horse in the race, but his effort was completely
compromised by the post and his finish position should be
discounted.
TO BE SURE (05DEC-5): Chavez did his best Mike Smith impression,
taking this 2 YO so wide as to be nearly invisible.
RADIANT MEGAN (05DEC-6): either jockey Paula Keim-Bruno was
given bad paddock instructions, or she needs a lession in how to
ride the inner track.
ATOYAC (05DEC-9): blocked going into the turn, then clipped
heels and nearly went down at the 3/16's pole.
CARTA DE AMOR (05DEC-9): lacks tactical speed, but she might
have won anyway if not hung widest on both turns.
OUR NORTHERN BELLE (06DEC-2): showed a flash of early lick
before she clipped heels and nearly went down. Might be sitting
on a Moschera wake-up call.
JEZABEL (06DEC-3): pitched the jock prior to the start, then
raced wide and very greenly. Bomb threat if she gets some
seasoning.
AGGRESSOR (06DEC-4): wiped out at the gate when hammered between
rivals. Impossibly wide and against the bias after that.
I'LL PLAY THESE (06DEC-5): finished with interest after breaking
tardily and racing against the bias.
GOING GRAY (06DEC-6): stablemate of the winner finished wide and
strongly against the bias. Likely to stretch out.
RED FLAG (06DEC-7): raced widest of all in the multi-horse
stalkers pack.
CALL AGAIN (07DEC-2): raced wide and finished with interest in
an event won by his stablemate.
CODE WORDS (07DEC-3): undoubtably best after getting pinched
back severely at the gate. Very game debut.
FAST AND FORTUNATE (07DEC-3): sneaky big effort. Bomb threat
stretching out to two turns.
OF ALL THE NERVE (07DEC-3): finished belatedly but well.
Galloped out best. Pedigree says routes are in her future.
QUIDNASKRA (07DEC-3): took the money that her work tab indicated
she deserved, then ran up the track. Don't overlook if she
comes back with an equipment or medication change.
BIOGIO'S ROSE (07DEC-8): eliminated Friday morning when they
drew posts. However, Maple should be ashamed of this ride as
well. Hung out on the eight path on the backstretch.
MI SUK (07DEC-8): used as a pacemaker for her uncoupled
entrymate. Watch for a return to claiming or allowance ranks.
NORTHVILLE (07DEC-8): hard used while wide trying to stay with
the pace. Probably needs a class drop.
THUNDER MAGIC (07DEC-8): they tried rating her from a bad post.
She middle moved well but wide and tired.
