Our goal here at Bloodstock Research is to provide superior information because we believe that is what separates the winning investors from the losing speculators at the racetrack. When handicappers have access to information that only the minority of players are taking advantage of, therein lies a significant edge. This can be the difference between being up or down at the end of the day.
INSIDER PICKS & POWER PLAYS is one of the tools provided by BRIS that can give you an edge at the track, and now it is available in a convenient 2-page PDF format. Why should you use this report? First, it can be used as a stand-alone tool or act as an excellent complement to whatever handicapping methodology you're currently using.
When using the Insider Picks & Power Plays, first look to see if there are any "3 Star Best Bets" on the card. Highlighted near the top of the report, the 3 Star Best Bets pinpoint high percentage runners. In fact, during the months of April and May across all tracks, the 3 Star Best Bets scored at a 43% clip and were in-the-money 75% of the time! Typically, you will find at least one play or more per day. These are excellent "key" horses for all types of exotic bets such as trifectas, pick-3's, etc. The last thing you want to do is play against a 3 Star Best Bet and not even know it!
From there, go to the Power Plays found in the report. We've analyzed some of the most powerful handicapping angles, have done all the work for you, and summarized them in INSIDER PICKS & POWER PLAYS. When looking for spot plays, look for a horse ranked in the top 3 on both Speed AND Class that has two or more Power Play angles in a race in which it is the only such runner in the field. In other words, look for the only horse with multiple Power Play angles who is considered competitive on both Speed and Class Ratings.
Searching for "longshot" spot plays? Then look no further than the horse ranked tops on Pace. Although they won't win nearly as often as the top picks, the Pace selections bring home the juiciest prices! Another great longshot angle is a horse with suspect form that shows the Power Play angle of Clockers Special, indicating a strong recent workout based on age/distance at the track. Prefer a 5 furlong Clockers Special with this angle.
When using any of the Power Play angles you can refer to page 2 of the report, which provides statistical data explaining why a runner received the Power Play. Wizard Trifecta Plays!
Looking to expand upon the success of his Selected Pick Three & Pick Six plays sheet, THE WIZARD now offers his best Trifecta plays from across the country daily on that sheet as well. Improving Your ROI
Experience has shown that when you run a good, predictive custom Handicapping Profile through the ALL-Ways Database Run Analysis, you will generally see ROIs ranging from 10% to 30% or even higher. This is obviously a good situation. Even better, however, is the fact that this is virtually worst case. The Database Run Analysis assumes that you bet every race and that you always bet the computer's first pick. By doing two simple things, you can substantially out-perform the Database Run Analysis results.
1 Do not try to bet every race, at least not with serious money. Entertainment bets are certainly OK. After all, this is supposed to be fun too. However, some races are simply too contentious to risk your bankroll. Other races have such a clear cut, legitimate favorite that the crowd is all over the horse making it an unplayable underlay. You should always demand value. Bet only on overlays. Look for premium payoffs on your exotic bets. The ALL-Ways Exacta Matrix shows you the premium payoffs you should demand. Combinations that yield premium Exacta payoffs will also yield premium Trifecta payoffs as well.
2 Never blindly accept the computer's first pick. Look for reasons why the first pick might not win. Perhaps it is falling out of form. Perhaps it is a bounce candidate. Perhaps the pace is setting up all wrong for the horse's running style, etc. Ask yourself: "If the first pick doesn't win, which horse is the most likely to beat it?" This examination may well lead to compelling reasons to bet the alternate horse. Watch the tote board for unexpected support of another horse. Look at the handicapping information in ALL-Ways software to see if you can figure out why the horse is getting this support. Maybe the support is justified. If not, you may have a prime bet, "crush the race" opportunity.
Based on a recent survey of ALL-Ways software users, 89% report profitable play including 52% with ROIs over 20% and 22% with ROIs over 40%. Not coincidentally, these same ALL-Ways software users play an average of 5.2 races per card. The message is clear. Be selective in your wagering. Be disciplined to not play races that you should pass. Be bold and crush races where ALL-Ways software and BRIS value-added data have provided you with a significant edge.
