ALL-Ways Handicapping SoftwareALL-Ways software is one of the more sophisticated handicapping programs BRIS makes available free of charge to BRIS subscribers. Phillips Racing Newsletter tested and reviewed ALL-Ways and awarded it a 9 1/2 rating. This is the highest rating they have ever given to any handicapping software. Handicapping a Race Card . 1,2,3,4 One of the most welcome features of ALL-Ways is how easy and how fast it is to use. You can handicap an entire 9 or 10 race card by spending only ten to fifteen minutes at your computer. This averages out to about 1 to 1.5 minutes per race. There are four simple steps you follow to handicap a complete race card: 1. Use the communications capabilities built into ALL-Ways to download the special ALL-Ways data file from BRIS or download it from the BRIS web site at www.brisnet.com. 2. Click a button and ALL-Ways automatically updates the par times, daily track variants and track-to-track adjustments for every track in North America. Click a button and ALL-Ways automatically translates the raw data file to prepare it for handicapping and adds it to the race database for the track. 3. Handicap the races and print out and/or display the handicapping reports. 4. After the races are run, download the results file from BRIS, click a button and ALL-Ways automatically enters the race results. This includes win, place, show, Exacta, Trifecta, Double and Pick Three results and payoffs. The Essential Elements of ALL-Ways:
The ALL-Ways Analysis Module provides for the following:
- Determines the power (Impact Value) and profitability of each of the 71 handicapping factors for every type of race run at every track that you handicap. Comprehensive Handicapping The 71 key handicapping factors in ALL-Ways cover the horse's suitability to the distance, suitability to the surface, current form, class level, running style, pace figures, speed figures, jockey and trainer statistics and pedigree data. It also includes a Comprehensive Rating derived from twenty two different handicapping factors. So, not only does ALL-Ways have a strong pace handicapping component, it also gives you all the information you need to make a comprehensive evaluation of the races. Significant Edge Many of ALL-Ways handicapping factors are never seen by the general public. Many of the factors are unique to ALL-Ways: Brohamer (Sartin) Compound Pace Ratings, Hambleton Total Pace Ratings, Hambleton Form Points, Quirin Speed Points, Quirin Race Shapes (for spotting key races), Scott Ability Times, Scott Performance Class Ratings, Hall Pace and Speed figures, a proprietary Workout Evaluation Index and a Stretch Gain Performance Evaluator. And, of course, ALL-Ways also includes the powerful BRIS class, pace and speed ratings. These are all very powerful handicapping factors and represent why ALL-Ways leads to strong value plays. Having access to this powerful information that is not in the hands of the general public gives you a substantial edge at the track. Track and Race Type Specific ALL-Ways automatically builds and maintains a database of races run for each specific track you handicap. ALL-Ways evaluate the track's database to determine the Impact Value of each handicapping factor. Then, using advanced statistical techniques, ALL-Ways determines the optimum combination of factors and automatically builds handicapping profiles that it uses to actually handicap the races. In this age of simulcasting, it is imperative that handicapping software be track specific. ALL-Ways is such software. Just as different tracks must be handicapped differently, so must different races be handicapped differently. To state the obvious, sprints are fundamentally different than routes, turf races are fundamentally different than dirt races and maiden races are fundamentally different than non maiden races. Here are some that may not be so obvious. Allowance races are different than claiming races. Seven furlong sprints are different than six furlong sprints. Maiden races for two year olds are different than maiden races for three year olds. Races with multiple front running style horses are different than races with a single front runner. The list of race characteristics is virtually endless and ALL-Ways can handle virtually all of them. To be effective, not only must handicapping software be tuned to a specific track, it must also be tuned to the specific race types run at the specific track. ALL-Ways is such software. Strong Exotic Play ALL-Ways not only does an outstanding job of identifying winners but it also helps you spot the place and show horses as well. The Top Three Analysis Report identifies the best handicapping factors for spotting place and show horses. Handicapping profiles automatically created by the Multiple Regression Analysis function are tuned to look for win, place and show horses. ALL-Ways even maintains separate Track Profiles and Brohamer Track Decision Models for win and place horses. The Dangerous Non Contender List helps spot those long odds horses that cause exotic payoffs to skyrocket. The Database Run Analysis Report analyzes the win %, average mutuel and ROI for multiple combination exotic bets. You will know exactly how deep to go to optimize your Exacta, Trifecta, Daily Double and Pick Three wagers. Summary ALL-Ways gives you 71 key handicapping factors, most of which are not in the hands of the race going public. ALL-Ways knows what combination of handicapping factors to use and how to weight them for every type of race run at every track you play. In other words, ALL-Ways is both track and race type specific. All of this can be handled automatically by ALL-Ways for you. Or, you can take complete control. Whichever way you approach it, ALL-Ways will save you time, your handicapping will improve, your wagering will improve and, if you are the least bit analytical, you will have a whole lot of fun in the process. GOOD HANDICAPPING!

Ten Turf Sires to Rely On
(reprinted from the Handicapper's Edge newsletter)
Ten Turf Sires to Rely On By Richard J. Nilsen It's that time of the year again -- time to profile top turf sires here in the Handicapper's Edge. We've included some promising new sires, such as Breeders Bonus, Deerhound, Deposit Ticket and Seattle Battle. Turn on your printer. Here is this year's list of stallions who consistently produce winners and profits for the sharp handicappers who follow their progeny. BREEDERS BONUS: This Florida-based stallion has sired 22 percent winners from 36 starts. The unraced son of Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew has had four crops to race and is one to keep an eye on. COZZENE: The Breeders' Cup Mile (G1) winner has been an outstanding sire, as evidenced by his 3.81 Stallion Production Index (SPI). His progeny have made 1,813 grass starts with 15 percent wins. DEERHOUND: This royally bred son of Danzig won three of five starts before retiring to stud duty. Already he has sired a Breeders' Cup winner in Countess Diana. His offspring also show promise on the grass, winning 20 percent of 20 attempts. DEPOSIT TICKET: The 1990 Hopeful S. (G1) winner has sired 15 percent winners on the grass, albeit from only 26 starts. ENDS WELL: East Coast handicappers should be familiar with this son of Lyphard out of the Blue Hen mare Late Bloomer. He has sired 16 percent turf winners from more than 600 attempts on the lawn. INTERCO: A California-based stallion, Interco has sired 21 percent winners on the grass, scoring at a respectable 13 percent clip in their turf debuts. SEATTLE BATTLE: Another unraced son of Seattle Slew, this one has sired 21 percent winners from 56 starts on the lawn. His offspring prefer to go long, as indicated by his Average Winning Distance (AWD) of 7.1 furlongs. SILVER HAWK: The runners of this remarkable stallion have won a sensational 19 percent of their first attempts on the new surface and 15 percent overall. Unfortunately, most handicappers are on to this hot turf sire, and it can be difficult to get decent odds on his runners. STORM CAT: From just less than 1,000 starts, his offspring have scored in 15 percent of their grass attempts. It's a win-win situation when the rains come and the races are taken off the grass, as Storm Cat progeny have won 20 percent in the mud! TOUR D'OR: His five crops to race have accounted for 20 percent wins on the grass from 75 starts. Most of his runners are seen racing in Florida. To have at your disposal sire statistics for more than 5,000 stallions, consider ordering SIRE STATS 1998, an updated version of the latest publication from Thoroughbred Sports Network, (800) 876-0330. This book is loaded with the necessary pedigree information to get an edge in maiden, turf and two-year-old races, and this year's issue includes the top 500 sires from overseas. Sire Stats '98 is convenient to carry to the track or OTB because of its 6-by-9-inch size. It is only \$34.95 (plus shipping) and worth every penny because no other pedigree publication covers this many stallions. Ordering is also available online at www.brisnet.com.

BECOME A PEDIGREE EXPERT OVERNIGHT!"Handicappers with a copy... will have a serious information edge." Dave Litfin With statistics for more than 32,000 two-year-olds of 1998, MAIDEN STATS is the ultimate guide for analyzing runners' pedigrees, which lead to blockbuster prices. Everything one needs to know about a horse's breeding is in this jam-packed guide, including the dosage index, sales history, top sibling information, and sire and dam statistics. If there is mud, turf or distance capability on either side of the family, MAIDEN STATS 1998 will tell you. You also will know right away if a debut runner is bred to win first time out. MAIDEN STATS goes beyond just two-year-old maiden events. If a runner attempts a route for the first time, the stats are there. If a runner attempts the grass, the reader will know if the horse is bred to love it. This year's book is useful for as many years as there are horses (in the book) who attempt new circumstances, i.e. first time turf. MAIDEN STATS, which is published every April, is available for \$99.95 plus \$6.00 shipping and handling (Kentucky residents add 6 percent sales tax).
