From updated daily news in the FREE Handicapper's Edge to superior performance ratings in the Ultimate PPs, Brisnet.com has the tools you need to conquer the Run for the Roses. The Kentucky Derby is only days away, and our full-card reports will be online beginning Wednesday evening, April 29. Let's take a look at how the Brisnet.com data and information can help you score on the big race day.

The Ability to Win the Derby

The Class and Speed ratings found in reports such as the Ultimate Past Performances and ALL-Ways data files are the keys to determining which runners have the ability to win.

The Derby winner each year seems to be found among the top BRIS ratings. Longshots Charismatic and War Emblem entered the race with one of the top BRIS Speed Ratings, and War Emblem came in off a monstrous, triple-digit Late Pace Rating. Don't overlook runners that have earned competitive, triple-digit numbers in one of their most recent two starts.

Predict the Pace Scenario

Although horses don't always run to what's on paper, BRIS Pace Ratings give handicappers the best chance to accurately predict the expected pace setup. It doesn't matter if it's $4,000 claimers at Penn National or the Kentucky Derby; BRIS Pace Ratings are a critical handicapping tool to visualize how the race will be run.

Identify the Runners Training Well

You can rely on the workout information everyone has access to, or you find the answers in the FREE Handicapper's Edge Newsletter. Start your day, every day, throughout the Triple Crown season by reading this great online newsletter. Only the Edge offers comprehensive daily coverage of all the expected runners, including detailed workout reports and pre-race quotes from the connections.

Know the Prevailing Track Bias

The Ultimate Past Performances includes the Track Bias and Race Summary page, which details how the track has played this meet and the past week. You'll quickly see which running styles and post positions are winning most frequently at each distance and surface. Quite often, an important trend is easily spotted, and this can be especially pertinent when handicapping all the great races on the Kentucky Derby undercard.

Who Can Get the Distance?

The Ultimate PPs provide the AWD (average winning distance in furlongs) for both the sire and dam's sire of each runner. The higher the AWD, the greater the stamina in the pedigree. A runner with AWDs higher than 7.0 on both sides of the pedigree indicate an inherent preference for route races. An 8.0 or higher on either side of the pedigree indicates a strong source of stamina.

Both the American Produce Records (APRs) and Maiden Stats CD-ROMs provide the necessary sire and dam data to accurately analyze each runner's pedigree. A staple in the Thoroughbred breeding industry, the APRs is the absolute best tool for researching the female side of the family. Both CD-ROMs for 2009 were recently released and available through the online bookstore at Brisnet.com.

Get the Advantage!

No other site offers the same wealth of information, so choose Brisnet.com for all your handicapping needs this Triple Crown season.

Brisnet will also have complete coverage of the Kentucky Oaks which is run Friday, May 1. This is always a great betting race, and is complimented by an outstanding stakes-filled undercard at Churchill Downs.

Mark your calendars - superior information for the Run for the Roses goes live on Wednesday night, April 29.

The Race of the Day contest concluded late last month, and regular player Al Vasco from North Carolina was the recipient of the trip for two to this year's Kentucky Derby. With no "live racing" near him in North Carolina, Al was thrilled to be this year's winner. He and his wife will be attending their first Run for the Roses.

The new Race of the Day contest has commenced. Log on and register for your chance to win a Breeders' Cup VIP package to the spectacular Wynn Las Vegas resort.

Congratulations also go out to Dennis Bright of California who won the $60,401.64 grand prize in TwinSpires.com Handicapping Open Championship on April 4.

"I felt like I was in the movie 'Let It Ride' towards the end of the contest," explained Dennis. "I was in fourth going into the final race and hit the longshot at Santa Anita. The person right behind me was also on the same runner, so I edged him by $.80 for the grand prize. I am not a big bettor, so this weekly $25 contest is a great way to bet a little to win a lot."

"I wrote my own handicapping program years ago. I use that program in conjunction with the Brisnet Ultimate Past Performances. I rely on the Ultimates to verify my software selection."

Dennis is not new to winning contests. Many years ago, he teamed up with a friend to win a big tournament at the old Flamingo Hotel in Reno, Nevada, where they split $54,000.

Handicapper Art (Chester) Parker lost the grand prize by only $.80, but he was very appreciate to have $16,261.98 placed in his wagering account.

"I love TwinSpires. You guys have done a tremendous job with your wagering site. I love the fact that you are together now with Brisnet. I rely on the Brisnet information, which I find is more thorough and comprehensive than other sources. The Ultimate PPs make it easier for me to see how the race is going to unfold."

Art also commented that the standings were extremely tight, and that everyone in the top 20 of the Handicapping Open finals gave a great performance. Racing's richest online handicapping tournament is set to resume some time after June.

The WIZARD continues to prove why he has had such a loyal following over the past 20 years. From late December to mid April, the Wizard has nailed over 50% winners at a flat bet profit with his popular Pick of the Day sheet. And this doesn't include the many exactas and trifectas provided in this expert wagering strategy. It's available 7 days/week at Brisnet.com and will be online for the Oaks and Derby undercards.

The Wizard has been closely following the Derby trail and is prepared to make this another successful first Saturday in May. He has nailed two of the last three Kentucky Derby winners, and he gave out the $440 trifecta in the year he missed - when his top choice Curlin finished third. Look for the Wizard's in-depth analysis with expert wagering strategy on Wed. night, April 29.
