The Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships rolls into the
Windy City for the first time in it's 19 year history. Arlington Park in
Chicago is the site of one of the most beautiful racetracks in the
world, and now it is home to racing's greatest day on October 26.
Brisnet.com is here to help you tackle this great wagering card and help
you end the day a winner! From updated daily Breeders' Cup news in the
Handicapper's Edge to superior performance ratings in the Ultimate Past
Performances, Brisnet.com has the tools to make Breeders' Cup XIX a
memorable day.
The trick to having a winning day is to negotiate the many variables each
Cup race introduces. Handicappers are faced with questions such as:
How does the track factor into the equation?
Let's begin with the first question.
1. Who's training well for the Cup?
The answers are in the FREE
Handicapper's Edge Newsletter. It's never too
early to begin your handicapping. Start your day by reading this great online
newsletter and it could really pay off on Oct. 26. Our daily newsletter offers
comprehensive coverage on all top North American & European horses pointing to
the Cup. Each day features Breeders' Cup news, detailed workouts, quotes from
the connections and in-depth analysis/recaps of the prep races.
As an added bonus, on Friday, October 25, the Edge's very own Track Bandit
will handicap the entire Breeders' Cup Card. You'll get top selections as well
as comments on every starter. Bookmark the Edge today.
2. Which juveniles can get the distance?
Bloodstock Research offers several products that can help answer that
question. Either CD-ROM product, the American Produce Records
or Maiden
Stats, provides the necessary sire and dam data to accurately analyze a
runner's pedigree. The application obviously goes far beyond Breeders' Cup
day.
As for online reports, the Ultimate Past Performances is one handicapping
tool you don't want to be without on Breeders' Cup Day. The Ultimate PPs
provide the AWD (average winning distance) for both the sire and dam of each
runner. The higher the AWD, the greater the stamina in the pedigree. A runner
with AWDs higher than 7.0 on both sides of the pedigree indicate a likelihood
to prefer route races. With the Juvenile events being stretched out to 9
furlongs for the first time, pedigree becomes an even more important factor
in 2002.
No other past performances can match the quality and quantity of the
information in the Ultimate PPs. Only Ultimate PPs with Comments have Prime
Power, Speed/Pace/Class Ratings, Foreign Class Ratings, Pedigree Data, Track
Bias stats, comments on each horse and so much more.
3. Which 3 years olds are ready to face their older counterparts?
The Class and Speed ratings found in reports such as the Ultimates and
ALL-Ways datafiles are the keys to determining if a 3yo can step up and
defeat his or her elders. Two years ago at Churchill Downs, this was clearly
the case as sophomores (3yos) swept the top four positions in the Classic.

figures and find out!
4. Which foreign horses have the best chance?
Europeans have more than held their own, especially in the Breeders' Cup
turf events. For a uniquely European perspective on the Breeders' Cup,
Timeform will once again produce a special Breeders' Cup edition. This
invaluable report offers the best and most accurate comparisons possible
between stars from both sides of the Atlantic. Detailed comments and ratings
are provided for every horse on the card. This special Timeform report is
only $10.00 and available Thursday, Oct. 24.
Foreign Class Ratings are a proven successful tool for handicapping the
Breeders' Cup turf races. European invaders with Class Ratings comparable to
or higher than the best domestic runners' ratings are very dangerous horses.
In fact since 1994, every turf winner or runner-up from Europe has been
ranked in the top three or within two points of the top horse based on BRIS
Current Class or Average Competitive Level (ACL). Both of these performance
ratings are found in the Ultimate PPs. Any BRIS file, such as the ALL-Ways
datafile, that contains Class Ratings will include the Foreign Class Ratings
on the European invaders.
5. How does the track factor into the equation?
As usual, the answer can be found in the Ultimate Past Performances. This
report includes the Track Bias and Race Summary page, which lets you know how
the Arlington track has played this meet and the past week. You'll quickly
see which running styles and post positions are winning most frequently at
each distance and surface. This can be a critical factor, especially with the
large fields expected on race day.
