October/November, 2007 VOL. 21, NO. 8 SEE INSIDE THIS MONTH'S ISSUE FOR... >> Superior Information for the Breeders' Cup It's hard to believe it has been 25 years since leading owner and breeder John R. Gaines announced the formation of a championship day for racing that would be entitled the Breeders' Cup. Now known as the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, racing's grand event has moved around to several locations, but this year it will be contested for the first time at beautiful Monmouth Park near the Jersey shore. Also for the time, the Cup expands to two days of racing with the addition of three new million dollar events. Races have now been added to accommodate filly sprinters, two-year-old turf runners, and dirt milers. The three new races will be contested on Friday, October 26 with the traditional eight races carded the following day. Both days of racing will be drawn on Tuesday, giving handicappers extra time to dissect Saturday's full card. Once again Brisnet.com is here to help! We believe that the analysis and statistics offered through our service provide users with a significant wagering advantage. On no day is this more evident than on the Breeders' Cup. WHAT ARE THE CONNECTIONS SAYING? The FREE Handicapper's Edge Newsletter offers updated daily news on all the Cup happenings. Read it every day and you'll know all the recent updates prior to the big raceday. The Edge includes some top-notch handicapping articles and in-depth analysis of each race. THE WIZARD KNOWS MONMOUTH America's premier handicapper, the Wizard, will be on top of these races like no other handicapper. The Wizard closely follows Monmouth Park each year and is tuned in to this track's idiosyncrasies. For a professional's perspective of the Cup, tap into his comprehensive coverage with expert wagering strategies in Saturday's Major Stakes sheet ($15). Other special products for Saturday include the Dime Superfecta play ($5), based on a wager available for the first time at the Cup, and the Pick of the Day ($6). Coverage of the three new Breeders' Cup events will be included in Friday's Monmouth Park daily sheet ($6) at no extra charge! PACE RATINGS & RACE SHAPE With so many quality horses competing on one card, it can be difficult to determine the pace scenario. This is a critical factor, and the BRIS Early and Late Pace Ratings are the key tools for making a correct pre-race analysis. Is a frontrunner simply too slow based on the pace ratings? Does your preferred turf closer have a strong enough late kick? The BRIS Pace Ratings, found in the Premium, Quick Play and Ultimate PPs, can answer all these questions and more. With so many contentious Breeders' Cup preps, you want to know if a runner exited either an exceptionally fast or slow paced race which positively or negatively affected the chances of this particular horse. The new BRIS Race Shapes make it easy to quickly pinpoint runners that were affected by the race setup. The BRIS Race Shapes measure how fast the leader ran relative to the average leader's time for the race's final time/speed rating. The faster the leader's pace, the higher the BRIS Race Shape (e.g. +7). The slower the leader's pace, the lower the BRIS Race Shape (e.g. -7). Use both the BRIS Pace Ratings and Races Shapes to your advantage on Breeders' Cup weekend! Reigning Handicapper of the Year Stanley Bavlish joins other champion handicappers by providing his selections for each and every race in one report. A special in-depth analysis will be provided by Steve Walker, who has now qualified an amazing 7 times for the NHC!
