Bloodstock Research Information Services (Brisnet.com), the first company to offer online data services for handicappers and horsemen in the Thoroughbred industry, is now providing a valuable resource absolutely free on their website.

Previously $.50 per race card, the Result Chart Archives (PDF) are now completely free at Brisnet.com!

Whether you're a handicapper, a fan of the sport, or you make your living in the industry, you can now look up any result chart for any North American track dating back to 1991. It's quick and easy to research the race of any horse over the past two decades.

The website includes a useful calendar interface which makes it easy to see if a track was running on a particular day. The free PDF charts are available in two different display formats: the traditional charts and the charts with alternative running lines. The alternative running lines portray each runner's chart call based on the leader's margins and beaten lengths, the same as it would appear in the horse's past performances.

"Prior to this it was very cost prohibitive for a person to pull down archived charts," explained Vice President Happy Broadbent. "Now it is easy for a person to research our great sport and follow the racing history of their favorite thoroughbreds."

The result charts archives are a tremendous resource for everyone in the industry. We hope you enjoy this new free handicapping tool at Brisnet.com.

When approached properly, the Trifecta is not only a fun wager, but it can be wonderfully profitable as well. It is a wager that can produce consistent, long term profits and it is a wager that can lead to those "box car" payoffs we all like to experience. This article on the Trifecta wager presents a solid strategy and a strong disciplined approach to the wager. It is simple, but very powerful ... powerful enough to turn most good handicappers into profitable Trifecta players. The article starts by looking at when and when not to wager on the Trifecta. Then it covers how best to structure the wager. Finally, it looks at some very effective ways to select the horses to include in the wager. [Read the whole article - click here]

Vance Normand from Brusly, Louisiana captured the 2nd of two Twinspires Breeders' Cup Betting Challenge Satellites and will join the first week's winners Doug Bredar and Sid Weiner with a seat in the 2009 Breeders' Cup Betting Challenge. That grand prize package worth $10,500 is to be held at Santa Anita during the Breeders' Cup, November 6th and 7th.

In the inaugural Satellite event held at TwinSpires.com, Bredar and Weiner both used an 11-1 shot in the last contest race to leapfrog several other players into the top two spots in a field of 238. The story for week two was similar as Normand, after selecting the winners of the first two contest races, slipped behind going into the latter part of the afternoon. However, he moved back into contention through Honey Honey Honey's upset victory in the 10th event and vaulted to the lead when his selection, Fiona Freud, got up in the final strides to win the finale at Belmont adding $45.00 to his bankroll.

Normand said he entered at the last minute and thought he had lost his chance earlier in the afternoon when deciding to not play a horse he liked that subsequently won. Describing himself as a "typical contest player," Normand said he is thrilled to be going to the Breeders' Cup with a chance to parlay his $100 entry fee into not only a potential seat at the National Handicapping Championship [next January in Vegas] but also $150,000 in prize money at Santa Anita.

In addition to his Breeders' Cup Betting Challenge Prize Package, Normand, who defeated 187 competitors, will receive $500 for travel expenses. Meanwhile, the runner-up through the 27th place finishers earned entries in the November 21st TwinSpires.com 25-Seat Guarantee tournament. In that event TwinSpires.com will be awarding 15 spots to the NHC and an additional 10 spots to the Coast Casino Horse Player World Series.
