Good Timing
Now is a
particularly good time to give ALL-Ways software
a try. Here's why. Beginning in January 2007,
Frandsen Publishing will launch a one-year special
effort which can best be characterized with the
phrase "From novice to expert at a reasonable pace.
"This special effort will be comprised of three
elements: 1) New ALL-Ways software will be released
with a four-level architecture ranging from Level 1
for new users and gradually moving up to more
sophisticated features in Level 4 for experienced
users; 2) The four quarterly ALL-Ways Newsletters in
2007 will be devoted primarily to helping new users
get the most out of each individual level and will
advance through all four levels as the year
progresses; 3) New instructional aids will also
become available in various forms.
So, if you would
like to give ALL-Ways a try, we suggest taking
advantage of 3 free data files in September, a
$21 - 42 value! It's compliments of Brisnet.com
and Frandsen Publishing.
This will give you
some time to explore ALL-Ways, well in advance of
the upcoming Breeders' Cup, and to build a small
ALL-Ways database of race cards. This will put you
in great shape to join in the 2007 effort to move
from an ALL-Ways novice to an ALL-Ways expert over
the course of the year.
Toolbox Handicapping
In pari-mutuel
wagering, you are not playing against the house
(like playing slot machines in a casino).
Instead, you are competing against all the other
handicappers who are playing the same races.
This is a very important distinction because it
means, if you do a better job of handicapping
than the other players, you can make a profit at
their expense. You are not playing for the
track's money. You are playing for the money
wagered by other handicappers.
ALL-Ways was
designed with all this in mind. Specifically,
ALL-Ways was designed as a toolbox full of effective
handicapping and wagering tools. ALL-Ways users are
thus able to select the ALL-Ways tools that best fit
their interests and style of play and integrate the
selected tools into their personal handicapping
process. Users doing the best job of selecting and
integrating the tools achieve the best results.
ALL-Ways Fundamentals
ALL-Ways uses a
comprehensive set of very powerful handicapping
factors covering each horse's suitability to the
distance and surface, current form, class level,
ability to handle the probable pace and speed
demands of the race and advanced jockey, trainer
and pedigree information. ALL-Ways creates
handicapping profiles made up of the factors
that work best in combination with each other
and does so in a track specific and race type
specific way. ALL-Ways uses the handicapping
profile that is appropriate for the race being
handicapped and generates a win probability for
each horse and a corresponding odds-line for the
race. ALL-Ways then goes further to point out
the primary contenders in the race, identifies
any horse it considers to be a "Dangerous Non
Contender," isolates the best early running and
the best late running horses, presents excellent
Key-Horse candidates and points out horses that
meet the criteria for numerous handicapping
angles such as horses having made a "double
move" (V Pattern) in their last race.
ALL-Ways Version 13.1 Released
More than
one hundred enhancements have been
introduced in this latest version of ALL-Ways.
Many are in the form of important new
information on ALL-Ways handicapping reports,
which are available in printed format as well as
for display on your computer screen. For a
complete description of what is new in Version
13.1, please visit either the ALL-Ways Free
Software page on the BRIS Web site or the What's
New Page on the Frandsen Publishing Web site (www.frandsen.com).
Here is some additional information about three
of the major new features.
Form-by-the-Numbers Report
A critical and
often difficult task facing handicappers is
being able to accurately evaluate the real
current form of a horse. This powerful new
handicapping report provides very extensive form
related data for every horse in the race
including analyses of workouts and form cycles.
Multi-Track Analysis
The
Multi-Track feature in Version 13.1 lets you
automatically run Impact Value and Top 3
Analyses for multiple tracks. This is a great
tool for finding effective "universal"
handicapping factors. It is particularly
powerful for analyzing all the tracks on a
circuit, such as the circuits in New York,
Florida, Kentucky, Southern California, etc.
Custom Card as a Track
A great way to
develop your handicapping specialties is to use the
special BRIS Custom Card capabilities for
ALL-Ways data files. You can create race cards made
up of just the kinds of races you like to play at
just the tracks you like to play. For example, you
can create race cards made up of just races that
will have a lot of early pace pressure, possibly
setting up for high priced, deep closers. Or, you
could create a card with races that figure to have
lone front runners loose on the lead. ALL-Ways then
gives you the option to treat these Custom Cards on
a track-specific basis or as a single track.
Welcome Aboard!
We suggest new
ALL-Ways handicappers visit the What's New Page
on the Frandsen Publishing Web site and click
the link to "Getting Started With ALL-Ways."
Then print and read the short paper on "How
ALL-Ways Works" and also note the options
presented for a "Fast Track" approach, an
"Accelerated Track" approach and an "As You Go"
approach.
This is the perfect
time to upgrade your handicapping with the powerful
ALL-Ways software package. Download 3 free files
of your choice during the month of September.
Reminder: The
ALL-Ways data file you download not only drives
ALL-Ways software, it also can be used to generate
the BRIS Ultimate Past Performances at no additional
cost.

"Fantastic"said Ronald Cote of Middletown, DE
after finishing first in the second annual
$100,000 guaranteed AmericaTab Handicapping Open
Championship.
Fantastic was how he described his winnings of
$60,000 for first place in the world's richest
online handicapping contest. Fantastic was also how
he described the finals and the qualifiers leading
up to finals on Saturday, August 5.
Cote, a TwinSpires.com member, finished with a
Return on Investment (ROI) of $114.70. That was
enough for him to best the field and finish above
second place finisher Gordon Arenz of Bend, OR who
completed the finals with an ROI of $101.50. Arenz
was awarded a lucrative $17,000 prize for second
place in the finals.
After his win, Cote said he relied on Ultimate Race
Summaries from Brisnet.com as a prime source of
handicapping the races.
"Every time I play a contest, I get the Ultimate
Race Summary from BRIS," explained Cote. "It helps
break down the races for me. I use the Prime Power
Rating, the Class Ratings, and the Late Pace
figures."
Throughout the day he was changing his selections
for a strategy based on his standings at the time.
He picked up $26 for the runner Original Spin who
finished second in the eighth race at Saratoga.
There were 15 pre-selected races on the finals card
and the longshot catapulted Cote to a comfortable
position in the finals. It was not until Red Zipper
finished first at Saratoga and paid a total of
$21.20 for win and place that he felt he had a
legitimate shot for the win. Red Zipper was in the
10th race at Saratoga and the 11th event on the
card.
"The Race Summary put me on my final winner, Red
Zipper, in the 10th race at Saratoga," continued
Cote. "He was ranked in the top two in the field on
the Current Class, Speed Last Race, and Back Speed
categories. I couldn't have done it without the
Brisnet.com information."
Cote qualified the maximum number of two tickets for
the finals and concentrated on the leading ticket in
which he eventually won. He shifted to Red Zipper
shortly before the race because he felt strongly
about his chances. From there on out he concentrated
on chalk horses and picked up $5.00 with Live Fast
in the seventh race at Del Mar, the last event for
the day.
"This tournament was so much fun, yet also nerve
wracking," said Cote who said he will use a portion
of his winnings to buy a new computer. "Having two
entries was real helpful. Last year I made it into
the Championship but only had one entry. This year
my goal was to qualify twice and have a better
chance in the finals. It paid off."
Over $103,000 was distributed with payouts
down 30 places in the finals. A total of $257,550
was paid out through the 43 weeks of qualifiers
and the one Saturday of the finals. The AmericaTab
Handicapping Open returns 100 percent of the entry
fee money to the players. The top five players from
each week qualified for the finals.
The inaugural AmericaTab Handicapping Open
Championship was contested last year with veteran
horseplayer and longtime Brisnet.com member Dennis
Tiernan taking home the lucrative $60,000 grand
prize.

Some
contests today pay out as little as 50-percent of
the entry fees taken in. Some tournaments cost
hundreds of dollars to participate in and return no
prize money. A few rare contests these days will
return as much as 100-percent of the tournament
entry fees.
Only
the Brisnet.com Online Handicapping Challenge
is FREE to enter and, in addition to
sending 3 members to Las Vegas, also pays out
thousands in cash prizes. Now, that's a positive
expectation for tournament players!
If
there's one contest you play this year, this should
be it. Take advantage of your Brisnet.com membership
and participate in racing's best online handicapping
contest, which returns Saturday, September 16 and
Saturday, October 14.
If
you didn't participate in the first contest in
August, simply register for the $30,000 Brisnet.com
Online Challenge using your username and password.
It's FREE to play, exclusively for Brisnet members!

The
top three finishers in the October 28 finals
will each secure a spot to clash for the coveted
title of Handicapper of the Year next January
at Bally's in Las Vegas. The purse there is expected
to reach $800,000, the largest ever for the
National Handicapping Championship. Brisnet.com is
picking up the tab for airfare, NTRA fees and hotel
accommodations, a $3,500 value each!
