5 Members Qualify to Vegas
October 2007
Peter Eagan, of Seattle, WA was victorious in the 9th annual 2007 Brisnet.com Handicapping Challenge, which scored him the $1,000 grand prize and a qualifying berth to the DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Championship.
The next two finishers, John Scully and Wally Gailor, will travel with Eagan to Vegas to compete for the title of Handicapper of the Year. They will attempt to become the 9th Brisnet customer to be named Handicapper of the Year.
The Brisnet.com Challenge is FREE to play for Brisnet.com members and require entrants to select one horse in the 10 designated contest races. For each correct selection, the player earns the mythical $2 Win and Place mutual payoff. On October 20, Eagan finished with four winners and a Return on Investment (ROI) of $87.40. Eagan scored big when he nailed the longshot in the 8th event that gave him $45.40 to cushion his lead. John Scully finished in second with five winners and a total ROI of $81.40. Third place finisher, Wally Gailor, finished $1.00 behind Scully with an ROI of $80.40. Both Scully and Gailor received $500 in prize money and a qualifying berth to the NHC.
John Satterlee and Joseph Boyd, who finished 4th and 5th respectively, both had great handicapping days. Satterlee finished with 6 straight winners and his next two choices placing with an ROI of $77.40. Boyd finished with an ROI of $76.00 with nine of his ten selections winning or placing. They both received $300 in prize money and berths to the HPWS.
Gailor and Satterlee were each asked about their handicapping experience and the
products they use. Here is what they had to say:
"I have been handicapping horses for about 35 years. I download BRIS DRF data files into the handicapping programs I use almost every day. Even when I'm not playing that day, I usually go to the site and read the Handicapper's Edge or Bloodstock Journal. I would like to thank everyone at Brisnet for having these contests to allow us to be able to qualify for the NHC." -Wally Gailor
"For my early handicapping, I was using the DRF and whatever PPs the track was handing out. It was at one of these events that someone asked if I ever used BRIS reports. I hadn't, but I remembered that when I encountered the Bet $100 Get $100 offer for BrisBET. I signed up, and then I learned about Brisnet. All of my preparation now includes downloading Insider Picks and Power Plays as well as Ultimate PPs. I also really like using the Pick 3/Pick 6 selections.
For the contest, all of my selections were one of the top two horses according to the BRIS ratings. I think I selected more winners than anyone else on Saturday. There was one race both of my selections scratched, so I was lucky the favorite won. I really enjoy the contests you offer. I play Race of the Day, too." - John Satterlee
Congratulations to all the winners of the finals and all three of the satellite contests. Everyone that has participated in this year's contest has made it a success. Continue to check out our Contest Corner for more information on our future contests.
