Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I'm getting an Invalid Property Value. What does this mean?
A: There are three possible causes for this. Most commonly, this occurs if you are running Windows 95, and did not open the fonts folder to register the special Generator fonts. In this case, the IVP will occur when viewing, as well as printing. This can be remedied by clicking Start...Settings...Control Panel, and the double clicking on Fonts. When the fonts folder opens, check to make sure that both the PP2A and PP2B fonts are installed. Also, check the File menu in the Fonts folder and make sure that you have to Install New Font option. If you don't, you will need to go to a MS-DOS prompt. Type "cd \windows" and then "attrib +s fonts". At this point, reboot your computer.

Second, if the default printer cannot handle graphics, you will get this error when you try to print. This is usually remedied by choosing the proper printer driver as you default in the control panel.

Less often this error can crop up when printing one of the Track Bias reports, Pacegraphs, or Pacemaker reports only. This signifies that the font Courier New is not installed. This will usually only occur on older Windows 3.x systems. The Courier New font is downloadable from Microsoft at http://www.microsoft.com.

One other item to check if this problem occurs is to make sure sure that you are not viewing your desktop as an Active web page. (If you have Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher, or Windows 98) Got to Start...Settings...Control Panel, and the double clicking on Display. Select the Web tab and uncheck the box labeled "View my Active Desktop as a web page."

Q: I'm getting a message that say my database is corrupt or I'm getting a message that says the database will be rebuilt the next time I run Generator.
A: A good first move in this sort of situation is to delete the file HANDICP1.DBF from your c:\generatr directory. This will cause Generator to reinitialize the databases.

Q: I start up Generator and I get a General Protection Fault in xxxxxxxx.drv.
A: This is usually caused by your video driver. This can be fixed by deleting the file PPGLOGO.BMP from the Generator directory.

Q: What is Error 62 when unzipping?
A: Usually this occurs on a Windows 3.x machine. The solution is to increase the number of file handles in the config.sys file. Set the number of files to at least 70.

Q: I get an overflow error when printing.
A: This is usually related to printer memory. Try printing only one race at a time.
