Beverly D. winner Crimson Palace
retired
Beverly D. S. (G1) heroine CRIMSON PALACE (SAf) (Elliodor) has
been retired. Unraced since capturing her U.S. bow at Arlington
Park in mid-August, the five-year-old was being pointed toward an
appearance in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1) by
Godolphin.
“Crimson Palace wasn’t right after training at the
weekend,” Racing Manager Simon Crisford said.
“Unfortunately, we have run out of time with her and she
will not run at the Breeders’ Cup meeting.”
Breeding plans have not been decided. Out of the Group
1-placed Perfect Guest (Northern Guest), Crimson Palace was a
distinguished runner in her native land, capturing the Cape of
Good Hope Paddock S. (SAf-G1) at three. She was purchased by Team
Valor and sent to Dubai for two starts, winning a conditions race
and running a close fourth in this year’s Dubai Duty Free
(UAE-G1).
Acquired by Godolphin shortly before the Duty Free and sent to
England afterward, the bay mare won the Middleton S. (Eng-G3). In
her final career outing, Crimson Palace defeated a strong field
in the Beverly D. She won seven of 11 starts and earned $663,278.
