Brass Hat, Pollard’s Vision head Lone
Star Derby
BRASS HAT (Prized) has been installed as the 3-1 morning line
favorite for Friday’s $250,000 Lone Star Derby (G3) at Lone Star
Park. The William Bradley-trained homebred captured the Indiana
Derby (G2) and the Ohio Derby (G2) in his last starts and will be
ridden by Willie Martinez.
POLLARD’S VISION (Carson City) finished a troubled sixth as
the favorite in the Indiana Derby and is listed as the 4-1 second
choice. The Todd Pletcher trainee won the Illinois Derby (G2)
earlier this year and finished second to Brass Hat in the Ohio
Derby after being unplaced in the Kentucky Derby (G1). John
Velazquez will ride.
The field for the 1 1/16-mile event, in post position order,

Frankie Dettori, 20-1; CRYPTOGRAPH (Cryptoclearance), Don
Pettinger, 8-1; TRICKY TABOO (Mazel Trick), John Byrne, 30-1;

Frazier, 15-1; Brass Hat; BRITT’S JULES (Jules), David Flores,
8-1; WILLIONAIRE (Will’s Way), Casey Lambert, 50-1; CUT AND SHOOT
(American Chance), Jose Santos, 12-1; PIES PROSPECT (Crafty
Prospector), Edgar Prado, 5-1; WITH DISTINCTION (Storm Cat),
