Pleasantly Perfect will attempt to become only the second back-to-back winner of the Classic

Defending Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) winner PLEASANTLY PERFECT (Pleasant
Colony), 2002 Horse of the Year AZERI (Jade Hunter) and last year’s Mile (G1)
queen SIX PERFECTIONS (Fr) (Celtic Swing) highlight the lineup of equine stars
assembled for Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup World Thoroughbred Championships at Lone
Star Park.

Ninety-two horses are entered for the eight Breeders’ Cup races, which are
worth a combined $14.65 million, and the centerpiece event is the $4 million
Classic (G1). Pleasantly Perfect has been installed as the 5-2 morning line
favorite for the 1 1/4-mile event and will face 12 rivals, including Travers
(G1) and Belmont S. (G1) hero BIRDSTONE (Grindstone), Woodward S. (G1) winner
GHOSTZAPPER (Awesome Again) and 11-time Grade 1 victress Azeri, who will face
males for the second time in her career.

Azeri’s presence in the Classic leaves the $2 million Distaff (G1) a much
more wide open race on paper. ASHADO (Saint Ballado), winner of the Kentucky
Oaks (G1) and Coaching Club American Oaks (G1), is the slight 7-2 early favorite
against 10 opponents. The 1 1/8-mile kicks off the Breeders’ Cup races.

The $1 million Juvenile Fillies (G1) is the second race offered and features
a field of 13, including Grade 1 winners SWEET CATOMINE (Storm Cat), SENSE OF
STYLE (Thunder Gulch) and BALLETTO (UAE) (Timber County).

Males race for $1.5 million in the Juvenile (G1), which ties for the fewest
entrants with eight. However, a very solid group has been gathered with ROMAN
RULER (Fusaichi Pegasus), PROUD ACCOLADE (Yes It’s True) and AFLEET ALEX
(Northern Afleet) all owning excellent credentials.

The $1.5 million Mile is the first leg of the guaranteed $3 million Pick 6
and drew a full field of 14. Shadwell Turf Mile (G1) victor NOTHING TO LOSE (Sky
Classic) is the lukewarm choice at 7-2 on the morning line, and the
four-year-old filly Six Perfections, who captured last year’s Mile from post 12,
is listed at 5-1. Six Perfections will break from post 11 on Saturday.

The $1 million Sprint attracted 13, including last year’s winner, CAJUN BEAT
(Grand Slam). SPEIGHTSTOWN (Gone West), a four-time stakes this year, MIDAS EYES
(Touch Gold) and CLOCK STOPPER (Gilded Time) are also top candidates.

The connections of leading European filly OUIJA BOARD (GB) (Cape Cross
[Ire]), winner of the English (Eng-G1) and Irish Oaks (Ire-G1), picked the $1
million Filly & Mare Turf (G1) for the sophomore lass. The Ed Dunlop trainee
is a prohibitive 8-5 choice against 11 rivals in the 1 3/8-mile affair.

The $2 million Turf (G1) features the heaviest morning-line favorite on the
afternoon, KITTEN’S JOY (El Prado [Ire]), who is the even-money favorite on the
morning line against seven foes. The three-year-old colt exits an authoritative
score at the 1 1/2-mile distance in the Joe Hirsch Turf Invitational (G1).
