Pollard’s Vision scores in Lone Star
Derby
Edgewood Farm’s POLLARD’S VISION (Carson City) raced in
midpack for much of Friday’s $250,000 Lone Star Derby (G3) before
beginning his run in the stretch and going on to take the 1
1/16-mile fast track test by a half-length. Ridden by John
Velazquez, the Todd Pletcher-trained dark bay colt stopped the
clock in 1:42 and paid out $8.40, $4.80 and $4.20 as the 3-1
second choice in the 12-horse field.
Cryptograph (Cryptoclearance) held second by a half-length
over Flamethrowintexan (Way West [Fr]), returning $8.80 and $7 at
9-1 while ending the $67.20 exacta. Show gave back $9.40 at 15-1
and completed the $1,029.40 trifecta. Another 3 1/4 lengths back
in fourth, Skipaslew (Skip Away) rounded out the 4-2-5-1
superfecta that was worth a very nice $14,998.20.

Prospect (Crafty Prospector), My Creed (Beau Genius), 2-1
favorite Brass Hat (Prized), Willionaire (Will’s Way), Charming

win, moving his earnings to $1,075,311 to go along with a
17-5-5-3 career mark. Among his other wins are the Illinois Derby
(G2) and Leonard Richards S. (G3). He’s placed in five black-type
events, including the Pennsylvania Derby (G2) and Ohio Derby
(G2).
Bred in Kentucky by Charles A. Smith, Pollard’s Vision brought
$70,000 as a Keeneland April two-year-old and is out of Etats
Unis (Dixieland Band), who has an unnamed yearling colt by Quiet
American and unnamed weanling filly by Deputy Commander.
