Rain falls on Lone Star
Lone Star Park received more than 2 1/2 inches of rain Monday afternoon and
more is forecasted for the week, which means soft turf is possible for Breeders’
Cup Day. Saturday is expected to clear for a sunny afternoon in Grand Prairie,
Texas, but there is a 30 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms Friday evening
and morning showers are possible Saturday.
Saturday’s high is expected to be around 80.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are dark at Lone Star. There were eight main track races run at Lone Star Park on
Sunday with stalkers dominating in both the sprints and routes.
Only post-time favorite LASTTORUN (Capote’s Prospect) closed from
off the pace when taking the 3RD race on the card, an eight-furlong
claiming event. The 5TH was the only race won in gate-to-wire
fashion as favored HIP HOP SIS (Service Stripe) claimed the
victory in this 5 1/2-furlong sprint by a half-length.
The lone turf event was contested at five furlongs and was won
by a runner who stalked the pace.
