Halory Leigh runs away from rivals in

Falls City

Jerry Crawford, Matt Gannon and Charlie Grask's HALORY LEIGH

(Halory Hunter) recorded her second impressive Grade 2 victory of

the Churchill Downs fall meet with a 2 3/4-length triumph in

Thursday's $325,200 Falls City H. (G2). A five-length winner of

the Churchill Downs Distaff H. (G2) in her previous start, the

Dale Romans-trained four-year-old filly rated a few lengths off

the early pace under jockey Eddie Martin Jr. before advancing on

the far turn to reach the front at the top of the stretch and

drew clear through the stretch.

Halory Leigh completed 1 1/8-mile Thanksgiving Day feature in

1:51 4/5 over the good track. Favored at 6-5, she paid $4.40, $3

and $2.40. Susan's Angel (Cape Town), who was forwardly placed

throughout at 9-2 odds, easily held second and gave back $3.60

and $3. It was another 3 1/4 lengths back to 20-1 Miss Fortunate

(Deputy Minister), who returned $5.20. The exacta totaled $16.40,

the trifecta $124.20 and the $1 superfecta (3-4-2-1), with Indy

Groove (A.P. Indy) in fourth, was worth $171.40.

Flower Forest (Kris S.), Mayo on the Side (French Deputy) and

Red Cell (Geri) rounded out the order of finish.

Bred in Kentucky by Al Profitt and Larry Demeritte, Halory

Leigh recorded her third overall stakes victory and has now

earned $612,872 from a 21-7-3-2 line. She's also placed in three

black-type events. Out of the winning Clever Trick mare Graceful

Leigh, the chestnut filly has an unraced two-year-old

half-brother named Invincible Sun (Carolina Kid) and a yearling

half-sister named Her Lady Grace (Lord Carson).
