Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA) will hold its 15th annual Gala
Stallion Season & Art Auction on Saturday at Candyland Farm near Middletown,
Delaware. Kentucky residents will be able to bid on seasons and art during the
live auction, which will be simulcast to Cross Gate Gallery in Lexington,
Kentucky.
The Delaware location features a full sit-down dinner under an enormous tent
with both silent and live auctions, including stallion seasons to such
standouts as Aldebaran, Arch, Carson City, Congaree, Maria’s Mon, Medaglia
d’Oro, Mr. Greeley, Not for Love, Pulpit, Sky Mesa, Smarty Jones, Speightstown,
Tiznow, Toccet, Two Punch, Unbridled’s Song and War Chant. An original oil
painting of Smarty Jones has been donated by artist Shawn Faust and the silent
auction includes a “Moneigh” done by Smarty Jones himself that was donated by
ReRun.
The Kentucky event features a cocktail party from 7-9 p.m. (ET) that includes
an open bar, appetizers, silent auction, live art auction and the live season
auction simulcast from Delaware. The highlight is a study by noted equine artist
Andre Pater. The silent auction features approximately 45 art objects, including three bronzes
and six oil paintings.
The telephone stallion season auction begins at 9 a.m. on Tuesday and
concludes at 5 p.m. on Thursday. The highest bidder from the telephone auction
on the live auction seasons will be called on Saturday evening to allow the
phone bidder to participate in the live bidding. For a complete list of all
stallion seasons visit thoroughbredcharities.org. To register call Liz Harris at

The TCA, which has been described as the “United Way” of the Thoroughbred
industry, raises money for the rescue, rehabilitation and retirement of
racehorses. In addition, the organization supports equine research and
organizations that help people who work with Thoroughbreds. In 2003, TCA raised
more than $1.5 million, which was distributed to 82 different organizations in
24 states.
