Undefeated DECLAN’S MOON (Malibu Moon), who captured the Hollywood Futurity

“Horse of the Meet” at Hollywood Park. The Ron Ellis-trained gelding is expected
to win an Eclipse Award as North America’s champion two-year-old.

Declan’s Moon also was the unanimous choice as the meeting’s top

the voters. The others: Hollywood Starlet (G1) winner SPLENDID BLENDED (Unbridled’s
Song), two-year-old filly; Hollywood Derby (G1) winner GOOD REWARD (Storm Cat),
three-year-old; Matriarch S. (G1) winner INTERCONTINENTAL (GB) (Danehill),
female turf horse; and David Cohen, apprentice jockey.

The other winners: Citation H. (G1) winner LEROIDESANIMAUX (Brz) (Candy
Stripes), older male and turf horse; Intercontinental, older female; Hollywood
Turf Express H. (G3) winner CAJUN BEAT (Grand Slam), sprinter; Bayakoa H. (G2)
winner HOLLYWOOD STORY (Wild Rush), three-year-old filly; and PEPPER TRAIL
(Trail City), claiming horse.

Rene Douglas, who made 37 trips to the winner’s circle to secure his first
riding title on the Southern California circuit, was named top jockey. Leading
conditioner Doug
O’Neill, who saddled 17 winners during the 36-day meet, was named top trainer.
